Your right

Because losing 28 guys across three games and only killed 4 units, shows just how accurate these streaky horrible dice are.

As far as numbers of "Oh get your % thing for proof blah blah blah" the dice should be game to game accurate, not accurate over 100 games, because that's what it is, and thats why these dice are so horribly streaky.

This must be one of those posts that spurred away from the mother topic entitled “the dice, quit kidding yourselves and open your eyes” located in the Q and A at http://www.conquerclub.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=41808. One thing that drives me crazy is how many people complain about the dice, and yet no one offers a better solution. Sheeese

who said anything about dice? it is about our right. it is very clear that it is about some sort of personal right. the title is very clear. our right to what, is the question.-0

p.s.-not everything is about the dice.

Dice, Dice, Dice

Ive thrown more of you
Than Ive eaten rice

Sometimes your rotten
Sometimes your nice

Though always your random
And Id say it thrice

If I could make you better...
Id pay any price

Instead of dice maybe we should go to a rock paper scissors format.

great idea....

next thread....

whats better... rock, paper or scissors

well the rock is more versitile and has distance....

scissors can be more apt to cause a fatal wound....

but paper can summon powers far greater than both etc....

or worse... I got Rock 100000000000000 times in a row... its not random...it just isnt... the person is using unfair psychic powers to know what im throwing first....again etc, etc, etc.

The point is, no matter what the system, however perfect, flawed, refined, complicated, or simple there will always complaints, and there will always be those that discuss it, as if it actually matters.

Google 'probability' or wait until highschool. I would also suggest that should understand something before giving your authoritative oppinion about it, but that could undermine the whole moding system so... :-#

What I'm trying to say is that the dice should be random, not based on past rolls. How it is set up currently evens out the %s between the dice, so each person is rolling the correct %s to be considered random by 'chance'. This then becomes 'chance' vs 'chance' and is therefor not random. The dice rolls should be random each roll, this will eliminate the streak factor... I know what I want to say, I'm not sure If I'm getting it across or not.

Past rolls should not influence rolls to come. This is what is ruining this game.

Vyk-

I get what you're saying. When I roll the dice, that set of numbers is no longer available for your next roll, therefore you don't have the same chance of getting those numbers that I've got. (Of course, a truly random system could end up with the exact same set of 5 digits several times in a row...)

However, since each roll pulls a set of 5 (fairly) randomly generated numbers that's not influenced by the previous set, I really don't see where the big issue is. Each time you roll a real set of dice, you're getting 5 randomly generated numbers that are not influenced by the previous set.

Also, since there's no telling how many people will hit the 'Attack' button between you an me, you're actually increasing the randomness - we may get sequential rows of numbers, or there could be a couple of thousand rolls in between.

As someone mentioned up-thread, everyone's complaining, but no one's offering a solution. I'm not complaining, but how's this for a solution:

- Get 5-600,000 rows of random data.
- When I hit 'Attack', seed the random number generator on my 'puter with the number of clock-ticks since last reboot.
- Use that random number as an index into the list of dice rolls.

Is that gonna be random enough for you? Remember, using clock ticks will just about guarantee you a random (though increasing) seed every time. It also opens the possibility that your machine's random number generator will generate the exact same number more than once (hence, random).

Dunno - just felt like throwing something in here. Hope this helps someone.

I used to be a fanatic about this type of game, going so far as to completely make my own complete with boats because I didn't buy the connecting countrys bit.

All the battles were fought on a mini battle map talored to the region so that all the battles would be fought with a real life battle layout.

I hated the thought of chance so we played checkers to decide battles.

Go to http://www.wikipedia.org and search for "probability" (google is complicated to use, I know  )

Let's do away with dice all together. When armies attack they die and take out one defender. This solves the problem completely. Dice moaners would stop moaning forever. The game would be completely predictable and a computer program would wim everytime.

If you think about it for more than 10 seconds, you would realise that the dice are what make the game what it is. Crazy impenetrable defence and unstoppable attacks are what makes the game interesting. The dice will can never favour both attacker and defender. And you will always remember huge losses more than huge wins (partly because losing steaks look longer on the 'rolling list').

The game is to account for possible misfortunate rolls when being conservative, and hope for luck when you are taking a risk.
