I think the Map Ideas Thread is a stupid idea. I mean the entire point of the "Map Ideas" Section is to think of ideas and change the ideas. I just don't see how having an 140 pg thread helping the process in any way.
I mean I understand you Foundry Gods have reason for having this Map Thread but I think we shouldn't have a section about Map Ideas but be only able to discuss ideas in a single thread.

When someone has an idea that they have no intention of carrying out the thread will go no where. This over flows the ideas forums and makes developing ideas that are actually going somewhere.
Speaking of that, if you are a map maker without ideas or even a map maker with ideas go to the index of ideas and pick something. Please. I'd rather we made maps we know at least someone wants to see.
My oasis map (click my sig) idea came from a 3 page discussion we had in the map ideas thread. Its a great place to look if you are looking for a map idea. You just have to check in every day or two and wait for something you like.

i have to say i totally agree with this sentiment the map ideas forum should be that and all ideas deserve a thread the strong ideas that are being workedon can be stickied
what would make a big difference to that idea thread if the above was ruled out would be if an index to all ideas was included in the first post of that thread with clickys so you could easily jump to an idea that interests you.
Don't now why people on here don't like being cooks, remember under siege: A former SEAL, now cook, is the only person who can stop a gang of terrorists when they sieze control of a US Navy battleship.

That is a great idea. Then if an idea does not get updated by teh mapmakers for a week or so teh sticky is removed and the thread can fall. It also serves as a guide to outsiders and foundry members to see what new ideas have popularity and dedicated work behind them.
I've taken to adding [Adv. Idea] to the ones that have a lot of work behind them, and I look at these first when I have time to stop by.
I've thought about going a final forge type route and adding stickies to these but I can never tell what people might drop or give up on, and I don't want to sticky maps only to have them turn dead.
I do like the idea of editing the first idea's post to be the index, and then I can remove the index to map ideas sticky. I'm going to do that now.
Edit: In a massively hypocritical move I did everything you guys said to. lol

I tend to agree - the thread itself is ignored by most, and if an idea is worthy of discussion I'd rather see it have its own thread.
The trouble is, we all have a different idea of what ideas are worthy of discussion, and I've seen many threads that have no mapmaker and no chance of ever being made remain at the top of the foundry for weeks because it sparks discussion. The result is that solid map ideas with devoted mapmakers behind them often end up at the bottom of that "pile" instead of the crap.
