Hey guys, i found this nice program on http://www.nbos.com, is called "Fractal Mapper". It seems to be very powerfull, just check out this maps:

It seems to work as an 'autocad' with the vectors and layers and all that designing stuff. You can download the trial, but you can't save your maps . You can have some fun experimenting until getin' the complete version.

interesting to say the least. it doesn't come up with fancy images but i guess it can be used as a starting point to create something interesting and then add stuff in photoshop

Yeah, and I think you can export the Fractal Mapper documents as vectors (i'm thinking of the WMF format images) to Photoshop or Corel since the program uses vectors...
