It should read basically:
Do not commit murder. of which there is a difference between murder and killing.
I must kill to eat.
I must protect myself and my family, so I might have to kill to do that.
But to kill unjustly for profit or other selfish means is known as murder.
KingJames is good for the poetry prose, but I usually stick with NIV.
Another version I keep handy, and is a good translation in my opinion, is the New World Translation from the Jehovah's Witness.
