No offence to whoever made this... but... waterloo is just so confusing -.- I keep reading the legend... and i still can't make sense of it...
what do you guys think? Is it an advantage? or a disadvantage? (advantage being you know the other guy has no clue what to do... that is... if u know what to do)

Lol.. i'm not that stupid. But waterloo just has too many cruddy rules. Like a calvary can attack 2 away? what is considered 2 away? bombardments can't attack? only bombard? so whats with those pointy things? infantry... whats so special about that?

Yeah just because you can't read the legend doesn't mean it's screwy. I can't read it either, so I never play it. Basically I'm posting the same exact thing Benjikat is so I'm going to stop now.
No eternal reward will forgive us now for wasting the dawn.
Yes it is obviously an advantage when the other player has no idea how the map works - but that's true of all maps.
Here - I'll explain a few things that you seem to be having difficulty with:
Artillery - bombard ONLY - so no attacking (or even seeing in FoW) adjacent territories, and no forting out or through (imagine Alcatraz on the SF map has a big cannon on it)
Cavalry - 2 away - guess what - what's "1 away" from "1 away"...
When I first saw the waterloo map, I just felt this tingle everywhere and it is an easy to comprehend map (even though I was never involved in the creation/development of it at the foundry). It is like the creator of this map and I communicated via telepathy, lol.
This is surely one of my favourite map in cc. I could even play this map in my sleep, lol

i agree...i don't think it's too difficult to understand.
you just have to think of the cavalry as knights in chess.
i'm not a fan of complexity just for the sake of complexity,
but waterloo is definitely a success.
the only things that got me were:
i didn't realize you couldn't fort off bombardments. lesson learned the hard way.
it kind of sucks that the territory colors are often very different from the legend colors...but, i suppose that's why there's the letter system.
it may look daunting, but that shouldn't stop anyone from at least trying it.
sink or swim...
edit:
in fact, i just set up a game with simple settings, for anyone who may want to join, and learn the map in a friendly atmosphere.
