When I was homeless in Kauai, I slept in the Salt Ponds.

One night I was late setting up camp and there was no more room. I was pushed way off to the edge and forced to camp on the beach. I settled in for the night, and fell fast asleep.

I woke up in the middle of the night, and I could hear someone moving up the beach towards my tent. It sounded weird. It was like a dragging/slapping noise, and then...I saw this BIG shadow through my tent!

Whatever it was it laid down right beside me, actually bumping up against my tent. What in the HELL was it! I was getting scared.

I could hear this heavy breathing all night long, and the motherfucker snored! Snored real loud! I wasn't scared anymore, I was getting pissed!

I knew what the f*ck it was...

It was a big ass bull Monk Seal, and he decided to come up on the beach and flop his fat ass right down by my tent.

I slept very careful that night, and hoped he wouldn't roll over on me, that would have really sucked!

I got out of my tent real careful early in the morning, and that seal was HUGE, and he was plopped up against my little WalMart kiddy tent with one flipper around it (I was lucky he didn't have a hard on!)

I got a few more Kauai stories, I will post them when I get the time.
