I think he is only implying that simply based on odds, you'd expect the top spots to reflect the respective % of overall players from that part of the world.MeDeFe wrote:I can agree with the last line of your post where you congratulate the players, the rest of it is a steaming pile of nonsense. The Netherlands have nothing, repeat nothing to do with how well players from there do on this site. If they were being sponsored by some national committee for Risk-like internet games or were being officially endorsed by the government things would be different, however, they're all on their own (although with Warsteiner and his friends there's some doubt about how much on their own they (or he) actually are (or is)).
Now, don't make me go resurrect the "Americas rightful position" thread where I killed a similar argument.

As long as people have been competing, people have taken notice of where they're from. And every time on country or state or city or what have you is well represented at the top, people will take notice of that.MeDeFe wrote:Then he can congratulate the players and be on his way, but extending congratulations to the country is outright stupid as I see it, since those people play for themselves and not for their country in any way at all.
If it were completely unimportant as to where players are from, than why the hell even bother with the little flags indicating their country... or are you too busy spewing your ignorant attacks on what others have to say to notice the flags?MeDeFe wrote:Then he can congratulate the players and be on his way, but extending congratulations to the country is outright stupid as I see it, since those people play for themselves and not for their country in any way at all.
Thanks m8Elijah S wrote:We expect to see the top positions held by Americans, Aussies or The UK, as there are comparatively more CC players from there, but when #1 AND #2 are held by The Netherlands, as well as 5 Dutch in the top 25, I think it deserves recognition!
I've said it before and will say it again, -They just seem to have a real grasp for the game.
Way to go Sjnap and Warsteiner! Well done!
here is some dutch for you breezersletjejiminski wrote:Yes, the only way we can stop the Dutch stranglehold on CC is to make 3D maps!

I like her... we have the same thing in England; we use 'Geordylass' in the North Or 'Essexgirl' in the Southsjnap wrote:LOL BlitzBlitzaholic wrote:here is some dutch for you breezersletjejiminski wrote:Yes, the only way we can stop the Dutch stranglehold on CC is to make 3D maps!

I also extend congratulations to them both. It would be interesting to see how many times they played on the Netherlands map!!Elijah S wrote:Way to go Sjnap and Warsteiner! Well done!
But who are you to tell anyone how to congratulate someone else? Sounds like you've got some real issues judging other people.MeDeFe wrote:Then he can congratulate the players and be on his way, but extending congratulations to the country is outright stupid as I see it, since those people play for themselves and not for their country in any way at all.

What an arrogant prick!MeDeFe wrote:Actually I'm from Finland.

Strangely I agree. What's got into you MeDeFe? Usually you're only too happy to congratulate people. Personally I've long admired the Dutch on this site - there's always been far more than you might expect fighting for top spot - the Aryan race and whatnot - tall, blonde and blue eyed really does hold true, well tall anyway.protectedbygold wrote:What an arrogant prick!MeDeFe wrote:Actually I'm from Finland.

Well, except that I don't think you don't actually admire the Dutch people as a whole, you admire some people who happen to be Dutch and play on this site. It's something like "inverse racism", instead of negative traits, positive ones extrapolated from a small sample are attributed to a large group. As I said in my first post, the Netherlands as a country have nothing to do with this, claiming that people somehow "represent" their countries here is stupid in my opinion, there is nothing in the slightest political about this game, as would be the case with World Championships and especially the Olympics where the underlying message is along the lines of "Let's get together and have a really good time instead of shooting each other". With those there are national as well as international institutions and guidelines that determine who gets to compete and who does not and you can actually in some sense claim that a country is doing well for itself. Here there is none of that. You join, you play, you're on your own. You only represent yourself.RobinJ wrote:Strangely I agree. What's got into you MeDeFe? I just read Elijah's post. He didn't deserve a comment like that.MeDeFe wrote:As for me being an arrogant prick, look at Elijah's post and tell me he didn't deserve a comment like that after implicitly going "nyanyanya you're just jealous because the highest ranking player from your country is only ranked 51st nyanyanya, if those dutchies had been krauts I would have congratulated Germany nyanyanya, you faaaail". After I had said that what I argue against is this propensity towards congratulating countries rather than players.
