So is Arnold Schwarzenegger, and he has admitted that he liked Adolf Hitler. Must be those Terminator genes he has running through his loins!borox0 wrote:I did German for a bit ages ago some guy kept wanting to know about Hitler till the teacher told him Hitler was actually Austrian.

French definitely. If you already have spanish, you'll get by with Italians. Euskara would only be useful if you were gonna live in the Pyrenees and even then, only a quarter of the basques actually speak it. And since french is spoken officially in over 30 countries, it seems the sensible choice.btownmeggy wrote:I'm fluent enough in English, Spanish, and Portuguese to live my entire life in a totally normal manner speaking any of these languages, to work in any sort of job that I'm qualified for, to have a meaningful romantic relationship (this is what I consider the real standard of fluency... it's not just a linguistic barrier, but a cultural one... learning a language to a high enough level helps to prepare you culturally).
For my work, I'm considering spiffing up my French (which is currently pretty poor), or learning Italian (which I can already understand pretty well, but not perfectly, and I surely can't speak it) or Basque (which would definitely be the most difficult to learn). Which do y'all recommend?
How did you pick up the french?mandyb wrote:4
