Now this brings up a question which I've been wondering for some time....

We all know random.org controls the dice gods, etc., etc.

But who controls the randomness of placements of pieces in a particular game.....I mean, who controls the authenticity of it all?

His question was serious. You comment was unwarranted and not needed. Does random.org also control the drops as well? If you do not have anything nice to say do not say anything at all. End of story. On the other hand if you know the answer you could be polite and post it.

Edited to add. Him being a cook has no merits on his question he asked.

I've seen people begin with much bigger bonuses than that one.

The same way weird batches of dice that you pissed and moaned about the other day. What part of random don't people realize?

They want this sort of thing controlled because it's not random enough. Do you understand the irony in that statement? Part of being truly random means that stretches of combinations of dice will come up that cause you to lose 10 straight. Part of being random means that you might start a 1v1 game with one guys armies on one side of the board and the other guys on the other half. That is just as likely as any other single possible drop. Are you surprised to find that the board perfectly fair on the drop? That specific drop you are looking at is just as rare as any other.

Can we expect you to bitch here in the forums every single time randomness doesn't equal even?

Random bullshit. Even if randomness is intended by the program, one thing computers suck at is doling out anything in random order. Ever has your MP3 on shuffle and wonder why it seems to select certain songs more favorable then others? Anyone else notice distinct drop patterns on their favorite maps? Or notice that certain countries attacking other certain countries have more or less degrees in difficulty?

I truly wonder about some of you sheeple.

Two classes of posters on this topic. Those that identify that theres something just not right with the dice and/or drops, and those who bitch about those leaving posts like this.

NOTICE SOMETHING????

This is a major reoccuring thread topic. Week after week, members will post about something odd about the random element or mechanics on this site.

Perhaps theres something to it other than frustrated bitching?

I play a ton of live board and dice Risk and I never come across some of the "God Hates You" bullshit that happens in games here. I've learned to modify my play to avoid or compensate "Random" fuck-arounds here, and I bet in some ways you have too. But to discount the topic as whining is ignorant because this site offers a lot, and is fun and addictive as hell, but it sure as shit isn't random.

Proof of point.

Do you ever use auto attack?

No???? Why not? Don't you trust it to be fair??

See?

To begin with, I do use auto attack and somewhat often and secondly, don't confuse "random" with "fair".

What is it about guys named Johnny Rockets and an affinity to rather suspect "proof".

random:

fair:
123456123456123456123456

Random =/= fair. Live with it. The reason we don't notice this when playing Risk, is because we don't play hundreds of games of risk.

Exactly. We play thousands of games on conquerclub ^^

Why do people expect random to be fair, anyways? Yes, you can say it'll even out, and all those people get annoyed when it doesn't. Randomness, however, goes beyond the normal streaks. It represents much larger curves and graphs than just the games going on at this time. In addition, randomness means these unexpected dice streaks happen, well, randomly. They can come anytime at any speed for any length. Randomness averages out over time. True statement there. But, time is already billions of years into existence, don't make the mistake of assuming it'll average out just over the span of the next turn.

What I really dont get is do these people seriously think that Lackattack sits in his volcano lair on the computer screwing up their dice himself?

Oh... wait...

when is that, DM? when you DREAM about playing conquer club? perhaps reliving the glory days of some of your amazing conquests? when was the last time you played a match?!!! we all know, realize and respect the fact that your true calling on this site is to make us all laugh with witty comments and salacious banter!!

however, choosing not to use auto-attack does not mean you don't trust random.org. it just means you are smart enough to realize, that sometimes, keeping your losses to a minimun is the best outcome of conflict/battle. if i can knock a guy down, and keep a substantial number in place for another go at him, that may be better than auto attacking and ending up with a 3 next to his 5 or 6... right?-OtP
