Sure, i have no doubt that the democrats have a different plan from the Republicans on the defence policy. But no political party wants to see their own country get blown up.

I've made this point many times to friends of mine who are Republican. I think part of the fear of a Democrat being commander-in-chief of the armed forces is because there's a lot of older people who vote Democrat who used to be in Vietnam war protests and now the Iraq war. Being against a specific war doesn't mean you want your country to be destroyed. Anyway that's what I think some of them believe about the Democrats.
