Cinco de Mayo is not even a Mexican holiday, it is a Mexican-American holiday. It of course celebrates the battle of the pueblo when the French invaded Mexico during the 1860's. Cinco de Mayo celebrates Mexican-American heritage. Now, seeing how there are no Mexican-Americans in Europe, I would say that no Europeans can celebrate the holiday. Now, I suppose that there may be some USA citizens (of Mexican Decent) that have immigrated to Europe, maybe these people can celebrate it, but... I think that it would be a bit of a stretch. Think about it, they would say: I am a Mexican-American-Englishman... Come on!

True, However, I imagine that the question was regarding European-Europeans not Mexian-American-Europeans. Which, I imagine, there aren't many floating around. But even then, should Mexican-American-Europeans celebrate Mexican-American-European culture and not Mexican-American Culture?
I'm pretty sure France celebrates May Day. Could google it, but cant be arsed. READ THIS THREAD. Then you will see we are celebrating our own holiday! I need to get drunk.

Cinco de mayo is technically a French defeat, but who says Europe is one happy family.
From what I understand it is a Mexican holiday, just not a major one. It is celebrated more in the US however.
This holiday should be celebrated wherever Jose Cuevra wants to be strongly promoted. Drink marguiteras, bash a pinata, who can ask for a better holiday!

How many holidays are there celebrating French defeats?

So many, in the end it was easier to lump them all together and call it "Germany".
