I've said this many a time, and obviously it isn't true, but bear with me.

CC is a winner-take-all competition. Much like poker, luck is a factor. No matter how well you know the cards, you can still be beaten by an improbable outcome; no matter how well you know the board, you can still be beaten by a series of 6's on defense.

Now, crack open a cold one. Tastes good, doesn't it? Damn right it does. Now take a round or two. Maybe you lose an army or two. Instead of a clean kill, it takes every army you have. But you don't worry about it as much, do you? Of course you don't. You have a beer. Your mood is more relaxed. Rather than letting your emotions rule your choices, you can take a nice long swig and think. Rather than worry about all those 6's, you can laugh about crummy luck and move along.

So the next time you have a bad round, why don't you get yourself a six-pack of your favorite domestic brew? Then when your turn comes up again, you'll be ready. You'll laugh some more. But more importantly, you'll have a buzz.

And if you're too young to drink, go score some of that schwag from your older brother. Then mellow the heck out. It can't all be wedding cake, but they won't all be 6's.

See? Now you feel better already. Just another reminder to relax and enjoy the glory of global domination from good ol' AJ. See? He's so laid back he refers to himself in the third person! He must be up to something.

I agree, whole-heartedly. I wish more players here took that attitude.

quite often i have this attitude. love it! sure does make for some double fun via skype or messenger too! i wonder how long it would take to complete a game if all four (or six even) players in a dubs game were having a (few) beer. i wanna try this some time.

This sounds like a tournament that needs organizing. Only requirements are for you to photograph yourself holding your beverage of choice. We'll call it the Beer Batter Battle.

no, it would have to be 1v1 games, and all turns taken on skype... i still remember, fondly, one evening finishing up turns with a drinking vace cooper... as he got up from the computer to let fwblb take her turns, he slurred something and walked away... as i began my turns with fwblb, and her drinking ways.. i said, "katy, move your big head to the right.." she did... then i said, "no, the other right..." so she did... and there on the ground, was a passed out vace cooper, in all his glory... the weary warrior, home from the fray, asleep in the homelands he had just so desperately defended with honor... my hero...-OtP

It might make the loss seem ok at the time but when you check your account the next day and look at all the mistakes you made... not worth it

See, but that's not the point of what I'm saying. There's a lot of rage on CC, and that rage can be boiled down to three major things:

1) The mistakes you make yourself, especially ones that may cost you the match.
2) The mistakes others make, especially ones that change the complexion of the match.
3) Horrible, horrible dice.

Now, is there a chance that with your relaxation of choice that you might make a mistake or two? Sure! But just as you would sober, if you're just rushing through a turn, that mistake is probably bound to happen. That time you could be spending lingering on a brew is time you can spend considering the next mood. Beer may not be YOUR zen state, but it's thrown out there as a suggestion. Enlightenment probably makes the dice better too, but you can't buy years of meditation for a few bucks at the local shop.

A few beers is generally better than being completely trashed, in my experience. Although, I have surprised the hell out of myself in some speed games that I really shouldn't have joined.

so, is somebody going to set up a "beer tourney"? if so, i would almost definitely be in.

it would be great if skype could do multiple video calls at once. even just voice without the picture would be fun.

sorry to anybody this would offend, however, I don't get out much and think this would be fun enough for a babysitter!!

it is a great idea, but what is this babysitter non-sense? who is going to fetch the beers while you are taking your turns? or are you talking about yourself getting hammered, while cooper babysits the game you are in? now THAT would be awesome!-0

and with the correct addons, skype CAN do multiple video calls. havent tried it yet myself though, so dont know how good it is...
