No Points For Tournament Games

I think that you should not gain or loose points in Tournament games.
Sometimes in tournaments you get placed against an extremely high or low ranked player.
I think this would also stop some people from deadbeating out of tournaments.

90% of my games are in tournaments and I'd be against this. Most tournament players don't care about the rank of the opponent, they are only in it for a shot at winning the title..

The reason people deadbeat out of tournaments doesn't really have to do with the rank of the people they are playing against, at least not that often. I'm sure it does happen sometimes though. However, taking away points for tournament games would basically make it impossible for some players to climb the scoreboard because there are quite a few with 100% tournament games and nothing else.

same for me... another thread stated that we should have an option for no points (a check, just like fog) that i would be in favor of, the option of it, but dont eliminate points in tournys

Right, I meant that the tournament organizer should be able to choose if the tournament will be points/no points.

Could award points for how they do in the tourney instead of in the separate games though.

200 for the winner
100 for the runner up and so forth
-x for those going out in the first/second/suitable round

Overall points gain = points lost ofc

Along a similar vein, what about a point ante for a tournament. Everyone puts say 20 points at risk and the "payout" is divided by some formula (65% to winner ~35% to second, points back to 3rd and 4th).

lol that idea... i like haha but then we have a problem with some tournaments,

EXAMPLE: im running a tournament with 512 players... if every player puts in 20 points... the winner gets over 10k points lol, so although a neat idea, it wont work unfortunately

Disagree.
Have played in many Tournaments, have played cooks and high officers... that is all part of the Tournament participation.
People deadbeat in Tournaments for many reasons.... Tournaments can take a looong time to finish, and situation for players change..... I spent 4 months on sick list, been to hospital, had endless doctor visits...., and as a result deadbeated in all of my Tournaments, some of which I reached Finals or Semis...
My ranking went from Officer to Private, which is how it should be, as a deadbeated in all my games.

I think points should be included, I dont mind it, I tend to lose points when i play in the 1v1 tourneys but I still play them since I want to win, and i dont mind losing a few points on the way to the trophy.
