It's not real its a scam. Coldest winter on record? Duh? But on the plus side, ya know what happens when the earth warms up? More food!!! So that UN guy begging for more handouts on the tele can kiss my ass.
What really makes me laugh is the whole 'all carbon is harmful' bit. Carbon Dioxide is killing us all!!!!!
CO2 has been proven to act as a greenhouse gas. And it would be less food because A) Less water B)A lot less arable land with a lot more people living on it. This is what really pisses me off. People citing anecdotal evidence as the gospel. And it's not the coldest on record. I believe that, while the general trend is warming, it causes extreme cold and extreme warm. It's been proven to even make colder springs. Come on. From 10,000 B.C. (BCE if you want to be politically correct) to 1850 A.D. (CE), generally warming the whole time, temperatures have risen 16 degrees ferenheit. Then from 1850 to about 2000, temperatures rose 4 degrees. Have any real arguement against it? And "We just had a cold winter" or "It's a scam" doesn't count.

Ice Ages. One mustn't forget the mini ice age that lasted for about 750 years. From the Late Dark Ages/Early Medieval Ages, up to the early 19th century. So of course it would have been warming up. CO2 has only been accounted for a small amount of the Global Warming, if I remember correctly, other parts include natural warming and cooling periods that have been going on for thousands of years. It isn't until recent times that we have actually been able to (partially, at least) measure such temperatures.
Yes I didn't watch the whole video. I have dialup and it takes 30 seconds or more to load 5 seconds. But I think I saw enough after I got to Al Gore winning the Nobel Peace prize. I'll watch the whole thing frm a highspeed coomputer someyime and then come back to this thread.

A)Less Water? So buy cola and stock up? B)And there isn't a 'lot less airable land' only a lack of resources to cultivate it.
And doesn't your 1850 to 2000 prove my point? We are actually beggining to cool off?
And the ozone layer is a greenhouse gas, so what? There is still a big hole in it too. I don't see where you're going with this....
If there was a mini Ice Age in the dark-middle ages, THEN WHY THE HELL WERE GRAPES GROWING IN NEWFOUNDLAND? But yes, there ws a mini Ice age, but it was from about 1200-1500. I hate hearing about natural cycle. Notice you yourself said that took hundreds of years, so obviously global warming can't be natural cycle.

PLEASE, tell me you're joking. A) I don't think I have to say anything there B) There is less land because of rising sea levels. For the ozone, of cource there has to be some greenhouse gasses, there has to be a balance. Are you saying the solution would be to not have an atmosphere? Give me a break.

Your "grapes in Newfoundland" (presumably based on the sagas) begs a lot of questions and is in fact probably a weak translation. Unfortunately, when I moved to the US I left about 3000 of my books behind, and I think my evidence for this was in one of them. If this proves to be an important point, I'll try to find references.

How could it not be a natural cycle? Unless there were volcanos everywhere and King Richard was driving around in a Hummer.

You literally think that we are out of places to plant crops? And if the sea levls are rising, how is there a water shortage? seems like we have too much........
Simon Viavant wrote:Such ignorance. We are already in a food crisis. Now imagine there's a million square miles less land with 300,000,000 more people on it.
The food crisis has nothing to do with airable land. If you know about the crisis you should also be informed as to how its happened.
Yes , it's because of ethenol. I completely agree that that's a step backwards. But what I mentioned would multiply the problem by ten. And even if it didn't, wouldn't displacing 300 million people be bad enough?

How CAN'T Global Warming be a natural cycle when it has already done so several times? And it IS going to take hundreds of years, otherwise most animals that are around today, would have died off if not for adaptation.
As for grapes growing in Newfoundland, there were also times when the earth would warm up, hence am island that far North was able to grow grapes. And the mini ice age was called the mini ice age because it was so short. Most ice ages lasted for thousands of years, but some last only a few centuries. Though there was one in the early or mid 19th century that lasted only a few years.

Ethenol is only a very small part of the problem. It has to do with industrialized nations recieving subsidies from the UN to ensure a good harvest. 2nd and third world nations recieve no help. On Average, Africa looses 2/3 of its crops a year. Another huge factor this year and last is the high oil prices, which make everything cost much more, especially to a third world nation. Ethonal isn't necessaraly hurting us, because the US is still the only nation tradeing grain on the world market. It just adds to the price. And this is leaving out the other 150 plus contributers like speculators, or agri-businesses.
