I was told that 6:1 was a good town:Mafia ratio. That would mean I would have to reduce the Mafia to the very first multis ever busted, and then what? wouldn't they be at a disadvantage? as it is now, I have 4 Mafia and 20 town and 1 third party. should I realy reduce again?

The standard bare-bones game is 2 mafia and 7 town, 9 total. So if you want 4 mafia, you could go with 14 town, making it 18, and much better for a first game. You could even replace one of those townies with the third-party you mentioned. My personal ideal ratio is one scum for every three town.

So in a game of 30, you would have 10 mafia?

I would have and normally do have 1:5 or 1:6 like somebody else mentioned.

well I must say that 1:3 is actually about the normal for a setup, so in a game of 30 it would be about 7.5. Though in smaller games it may change. 1:3 is for bigger though. 2:7 is good for smaller. 12 is the first point about with the 1:3 ratio.
