You can pretty much get the concept from reading the map text. I guess it's

I would like to try an objective style map for my next project. I guess it looks like another video game (can you guess which one?). The skulls are just a placeholder. I'm not sure what objects I want there yet. I'm trying to work out the game-play before I get into graphics.

* Will objective games this work with assassin? Like if Red can never totally kill Green, will that short circuit the system?
* Could the skulls fight back? Like I know there are negative bonuses, but how could we work it in so it's not -1 army to your shooter every turn - thats boring.
* Should I start with 10 shooter spaces, in case the xml is ever updated to allow 10 players?
* Should I start with a lot more skulls, with only a neutral 3 on them instead?

* Different concept - what if the skulls can not attack each other. Instead, once you occupy them, each turn you lose 2 armies or something, until your down to just 1. Then a weaker player could steal your skulls and deploy more men (if he has them). ?

Jeez.. I don't know about all this.

no point in playing assasin games on objective based maps, however it will still work. you will still win the game and get the points if you win an objective.

don't make more shooting places, 8 is fine IMO.

more skulls might be fine, put like 5~10 armies on each i guess.

the different concept is in fact better IMO

Ass & Term games will still work (just like Das Schloss) but the only way to win them is via the objective (Which I reckon is a good thing)

However - this looks like classic Space Invaders... which would be cool!!!!!

I've been working on an idea along these lines. I think it will work. If each skull is -2 though, then aren't folks just gonna build before attacking? Because I've been working on something similar I've struggled with this and I came up with the idea that you need to mix the incentives with the disincentives to prevent that. Maybe the skulls is an automatic +1. But the shooter starts with a +5 "continent" bonus that is overridden so that with each new skull you get a -1. I suggest building a spreadsheet and figuring out how this works best, without giving too much to the person who just builds and waits and taking too much from the person who is aggressive while still providing for a chance to come back. Careful balancing is key and you'll need to test this out somehow before trying to quench the gameplay. So you know it works.

I'd make it a more space-invaders themed map. Get rid of the skulls, set it in space, etc. Just leave enough differences to get around the copyright. And you could call it "Space Conquerors" or something like that.

it seems like it'll be like archery except longer and archery looks like it'll be a long game too

I just don't see how a game like this will end. stalemate city.

Exactly, I'm afraid you'll have to rethink the tactics for this one, at the moment its just dice wars, or at best, a one trick map. Nice idea though but be careful about it ending up as a novalty map.

A novelty map. I'm afraid that your correct. Kind of like Conquer Man is to me. I've played it once, and that was enough. I wanted to do (try) and objective map for my next project, but I may still have to brainstorm some better themes.

The game play is interesting, but I agree with some of the early sentiment. I love, however, the graphics. :D

At the moment, there is no incentive to be the first to attack... you might be in with a chance of getting a zombie, but you know that the next player will just take it from you...
If you can think of a way aorund that, then there is some potential here...

The way around the first person attacking failing is you can ONLY attack the one directly above you. then the skulls once up their can attack each other.

This is a really great concept, and this is a map that I would love to play.
But it does almost seem like a novelty. There doesn't seem to be enought strategy involved. If you did follow after space invaders(your map is fine in my opinion) you could use the differen't colored aliens as bonuses, but I'm just lobbing that up there. I really do like the map though, even if it only works out as a novelty.

There should be a 5 Demons Above the skulls(cant be attacked by the shooters.) Gives even larger bonus. So there will be a battle to reach those 5. (And Devils/ArchDemons)

Eksample.

(this is how the map looks now: (my idea is also inserted with attack routes (| - /).) Remmember its a sketch.

To be honest I think the ordering should be so you can only hit the one directly above. I also think that the skulls can be bonusified by having some silver some gold and a platinum one at the end which if you hold you can attack shooters.

One of those ideas that should just fall to the bottom. I'm not working on this. I am working on a way better map, that will kick this sites ass once I post the idea.

edit.. Ruben and I are working on the map ;)
