I don' think many people really care who is brilliant and who is "normal".

They want to find the few jerks. And this system makes that harder because people's opinions vary, NOT because of what you term "abuse".

Actually, I wasn't sure whether you were trolling or intentionally being obtuse, so I refrained from calling you one or the other until I'd made a concrete policy determination.

But I can't tell you how much I enjoyed seeing you call me "kid". I believe the last time I was addressed as such, I was in the general proximity of a swing set and my balls hadn't dropped yet.

Wow, lots of emotion in this thread and several borderline flames. Remember to keep it civil folks.

I can tell you how the system was designed, and that was as 3 stars being average, everyday play, hence the label "average". However, how it actually plays out may be an entirely different story, which is why we're taking a wait and see approach. People shouldn't expect all 5's and shouldn't get upset and complain when they get a 3 or 4. If you get all 5's, great! If you get all 3's, good! Neither is bad and neither is abuse.

I'd hate to be the one who Fs up the system so if someone would kindly tell me what each player should get in each category it would be most appreciated.

if giving 5's in hope of helping a player enjoy a game more, and hoping it inspires continued good playing and behavior is abuse.. then consider me the biggest offender... I gave the most feedbacks in the old system, and give positive ratings whenever possible.... Positivity begets positivity... negativity begets negativity... youre free to make your choice as to how you want to proceed..

oh my goodness, we are so alike, it is creepy!! however, if it is a small meal, and i have received great attention, i'll go as high as 30%... if it's something like mexican, and you only drop 20 bucks, and my kid
was given some nice attention and the waiter/waitress were kind and actually gave him time to express
himself, drop 'em 10 bucks... thanks wac-ky!! nice to see some sense coming to this thread!-0

Actually I agree with what zimmah has been saying and can also see why people want to just go with all 5's. I personally don't think 5's should be arbitrarily handed out to people I've played once, unless they've impressed or dissapointed me in some way wrt to the game. People who do so are "throwing off the curve" so to speak by increasing the "average" to higher than 3. The only 5's I've handed out so far have been to people I've played more than a few times and know well. I'll retiterate it again, people shouldn't *expect* all 5's, and shouldn't complain when they get 3's and 4's. Those of you complaining you can't tell anything by the new system who are also arbitrarily leaving all 5's are part of the problem, not the solution.

I wouldn't call that abusing, everyone has diffrent opinions on how their opponents plays. Perhaps those 2 just feels that if they just play a clean and good game that they deserve a 5've.

78 out of 78 players that deserve a 5? i don't think so. either he's playing only with the very elite players (and i don't mean skills) or he is just hading out random 5's which is abusing the system.

ive left a good 50 or so 5's out of 50... cuz first thing i went through my games and gave all the players i remembered to be good 5's...

As I said it dilutes the point of the system and creates a unfair expectation from those that use the system as designed but to say it is flagrant abuse , it is too early too say. I would just leave it as subjectively against the spirit of the new system. The irony I have already received a complaint about leaving someone a three because they were just average t taking there turns and when I told them that they went off and were mad because they did not miss a turn and my response was you were not quick you almost always took your full 24 which to me is average... So to each there own and owen Deep breaths I know this has you heated right now but once everyone is used to it maybe they will start using at it was designed if not then it will be what it is...

In my mind if you played all your turns, were polite, made an effort and had fun then its 5's all the way.
Only deduct from that if you were annoying, abusive, poor sportmanship or deadbeat. So the curve will have most at 4+ and the undesireables at 2

Well this is something i can agree with... a very american thing to do perhaps, and i think it's why the food service is generally better in the states... as a general overall statement of course, plenty of exceptions naturally...
