Why is it that higher ranks get pissy when they are beat

why is it that people get pissy when you merely tell (i.e. without swearing or strong language, at first) them they are doing something tactically wrong..?
That happens more often.. people just cant handle critique these days..

Oh you have no idea how many times people may experience the classic "sorry I get scared by your rank so I just wanted to get rid of you before anyone else."

So over time a lot of the higher ranks end up getting frustrated playing with the lower ranks, who won't so much look at the map and board positioning as they do the player's icon.

yeah! like, what is a "high rank"? it is so subjective to where you are in your CC
experience, how much time you have put in, how good you become, what your
current rank is, etc.. at one time, didn't everyone aspire to have 3 stripes? then
3 stripes with the sexy spot on them? right? anyway, i don't think my rank is that
high, but it is the highest i've been... and i personally love it when a single stripe
hands me my ass in a game because of good play!!-0

High rank may be subjective, however, if one applies the normal rules of life, then the top 1% have to be considered at the summit of this particular tree.

I play a lot of team games as I see this style as having more to do with skill of strategy than luck. However, I often spot a very low ranker who impresses me and I normally ask them aboard the 'team FC' games. At the moment I have a 2 Corps and a Chef rowing along with me, all of whom are actually quite good players but had not had the opportunity to get in among the serious players. This way they get to see the way these players operate, learn strategy and get to master the art of the game.

My recent successes include a Private 1st class…now a Major, and a Corporal….now a Major. Obviously the symbiotic relationship that occurs in the early days loses its attractions to me as the points gain starts to fade the higher they get, however, they are normally ready to go and start their own 'Teams' once they hit the higher ranks as they can easily ambush other team games and higher ranks without having the ignominy of seeing those games be dropped when they arrive on the board due to their, now, higher rank!

I also believe I am serving the greater good by actively contributing to a flow of points in the opposite direction to the norm, that is to say from the senior ranks to the junior ranks.

On the other hand, this has also cost me a few points along the way when I have made a massive error of judgement about a low ranker. They have agreed to come on board so to speak, and then completely screwed the situation by deadbeating, playing an atrocious game generally and causing complete havoc. Fortunately, these are few and far between.

In summary, I think the idea that higher ranks get ‘pissy’ as the OP euphemistically puts it is something of an error if applied as a generality. Yes, there are many high rankers who hide away, nervously counting their points like a Fagin checking his wallet of precious things, and yes, they can get pretty cantankerous if they feel they have lost their precious points due to some complete arse. However, I believe that many of the front page rankers tend to play whosoever wished to play them, win or lose.

ok I will add to the mix. Just played game 2754845 against a brigadier, i am a liutenant
any ways " torter_of _worlds " In the FIRST round , with no hello or g.l. says to me " bullshit drop"
like i can control the game. now let me say that the game was king of the mountains 1'st roud i start with 8 armies to deploy and he had 5, not an insurmountable lead, in that type of game. let me say that i have been in the reverse of this situation many times, it doesnt matter on that map. You can overcome a lucky drop with good strategy. This " brigadear " didnt even try, Instead he tells me to sit on my dildo and then says that i am another fag on his ignore list. all in the first round.

There is no justification for this at all.

and for C.C. to allow this to continue is wrong.

I normally play team games, though I will play singles every so often. However, I DO use strategy, just that the dice and the drop seem to favor my opponents more often then me. Also, I really don't get much smack talk in game chat, though for some reason, a cook on the opposing team that was winning (his team was team 2) said "F*ck you team 1." Why? I don't know, but I have a feeling he's going to give me and my teammates (public game by the way) bad ratings.

Oh, and Blitz? You and your teams should give my teams your points, please? With sugar on top?

That's like saying that the police "condone" someone calling your child an "idiot". It is not an area they police, that's all.

I'm not a mod, so my answer is not "official", but the mods monitor the public areas. Even then not as much as many would like... and are plenty busy there. Do you REALLY and truly want them to have to monitor individual chat as well?

You have an option. You can use the ignore list ... and not have to deal with that individual or you can play him and know that this is the kind of behavior you can expect. The choice is yours.

If you don't think there are enough games to play, then there might be a problem that needs fixing, but its not about whether higher ranks are rude or not.

There is a similar thread about low ranks. In both cases, it just means there are some poor sports out there. That's life.
