Again, Led Zep are a good example. I'm not a fan, yet get Cola talking about them, and its difficult not to be converted, as his love of the music shines through.
You seemed to have perfected the art of bored cyncism -which bores me.Get some tolerance and passion!

All of you.

Stop! Take some time to think, figure out what's important to you.suggs wrote:Prowler, he may have misunderstood the antiwar sentiments of Born In The USA. Whatever. About what exactly? You didn't say. That compilations don't have a place in a true music lover's Top 10 Albums? That is an opinion. It can be debated, but it can't be proven right or wrong.DAZMCFC wrote:anyway you can say it's just another PC jumping on the band-wagon, but your wrong.

John Lennon didn't release a new album from 1976 to 1979 (unless there were some of your beloved compilations in there). Rock'n Roll in 1975 was his last release until Double Fantasy in 1980.suggs wrote:Yeah, getting shot did Lennon's credibility a lot of good.
He was churning out total garbage music wise at the time, and had been for 4 years or so.

I read it...the same thing happened in my area. The anti-USA adolescent mindset took over and people were blinded. But to hold that against the artist or the album would be illogical and, to be honest, would embarrass me.suggs wrote:Di you not read his response? It was a fair point I thought -along the lines of the whole Springstein hysteria at the time of "USA" pissed him off.
I only disagree with you when you're talking balls. I've yet to hear you talk sense.
Your one and only tactic of "wind up merchant" is a bit futile, old bean. You're talking to a Past Master![]()
whats important to me in this thread is that people talk about the music they like with honesty and passion. Apart from your list, you've just been on 'ooo, i think i m good at mind games, lets do that AGAIN.
Shame really, you probably had something to say at some pint in the past.

suggs, you said he had been churning out music for the past 4 years or so. He had not had a release in those 4 years.suggs wrote:four years or so.
don't you get embarrassed by your boring pedantry.
Anyway, I 'd go further and say the vast majority of stuff he did post Beatles was prettty average, and of course, his vioce got even worse.
Still, what could you expect from Mac's junior partner?

Billy Holiday (Best of)

You can certainly criticize me for liking the Beatles too much...I guess...but I'm just a big fan and I know them a lot better than any other band...I do listen to a tonne of other music though....I just happen to like The Beatles and some of their solo stuff a little more...heavycola wrote:there is no argument. Prowler's favourite albums come from the same band or from two of its members - how many albums have ever been produced, and how many can he have listened to to keep going back to the beatles (yawn)? The word Unimaginative springs to mind.
Also interesting was the lack, in his top 10 or 'honourable mentions', of a single black artist. In a 'knowledgeable music lover's' 10 favourite albums, it could be an oversight, but he listed 28. It's hard to believe a 'knowledgeable music lover' would include Green Day in his list yet would fail to even give a nod to the overwhelming contribution made by black musicians. There is some blues rock in there - oh wait, it's the Stones and George Thorogood.
'a knowledgeable music lover' - uh huh, right. A fraud, more like. Or maybe a big fat racist.

Blah blah blah...then say what you mean. It'd save a lot of time. And you wouldn't come off as some tool who doesn't know what the hell he is talking about. Not that I said that...just repeating a PM.suggs wrote:Prowler< i meant Lennon's mst recent releases before his death.
