you can go ahead and slam them down if you want. I haven't really done anything since that update last night. thanks for the input!gimil wrote:I got some more things but ill wait for an update.

I think you should spread the trees out a bit more so each starting point has an equal chance to get the bonus. its time to stretch reality a bit now for the sake of gameplay.gimil wrote:Does really need to be so many +1 bonuses all over the map?
i agree that they are much better than before, but why still a far way off?gimil wrote:Graphics are a far way off but they are much better than the lasttime I looked.

OK, I'll add borders. Now, the reason I moved the legend to that corner was because there wasn't room for the bigger mini-map. And I wanted it bigger. I might be able to rearrange things one more time (I have a few pixels on the right) but I'm already damn close to the size limit on the map. As I need to be for a map like this.rocky mountain wrote:the mini map is more readable now. gimils idea is really good for the bonuses...
i think on the minimap there should be borders between the watersheds. i think it will look better. ...
the legend down in that corner looks too crowded. the downstream arrow is too close to the canoe explanation. i liked it better where it was the last update.
ok.the town Russell looks kinda like Rossell. maybe shift the text down slightly?
I'm gonna change the font too. That isn't a good font for that role.the letters for the shared terits are too big. shrink them a bit and they won't look so crowded in the sign.
I thought about this but was adding any new graphics on an already complex map.would putting an arrow from the towns/cities to its only terit it can attack be helpful? or some other thing that is easy to note which territories can attack/be attacked by them...
something I never bothered fixing because it was behind Tidioute until now. Will fix.what is that coming out of tidioute? it looks like a banana...
I'll try the color, thanks! And i'll move the trail on top of the borders.for tunungwant color, how about this? (its colour #008040 by the way...) it more of a richer, evergreen green... you can't see it very well on the text.... it looked better in the little box thingy. you could still try it though...
i think the trail would look better over the borders instead of under them...
ok. I don't mind breaking with reality but there is at least 1 or 2 modifications I can make and still respect the real conditions.I think you should spread the trees out a bit more so each starting point has an equal chance to get the bonus. its time to stretch reality a bit now for the sake of gameplay.
ok. given this serious consideration...i agreegimil wrote:Rather than naming contients watersheds people would find it easier to undrstand if they where simply called regions./
that is trueseamusk wrote:Also, if I standardize the bonus as gimil suggested, I can put less info on the mini-map and that may allow me to make the map smaller but maintain text size.

sure would. I originally was gonna have towns and villages. I can do that. It certainly is more appropriate.PLAYER57832 wrote:LOVE the idea!!
A small suggestion.
To keep in theme, rather than having cities and villages, what about towns and villages or hamlets? That would be more in tune with the actual population totals.
Well, the towns and villages are difficult unless I decide to get rid of the 3d icons. I like them and others do too. A few folks hate them. If I switched I think i'd draw them myself this time. Also, what about changing the icons to a small victorian or brick stone "main street" type bldg for the town and either a shack (complete with missing boards or patches on the roof) or a log cabin for the smaller? And perhaps the oil derricks could use a couple of crossbars or even a smal "fountain" of oil at the top. Right now they look a lot like arrowheads at first glance.
Yes, I deleted them. Honestly, they were the only part of the gameplay that I was never too crazy about. I did it for a reason but I think they were unnecessary and broke up the flow too much. Also, less icons on the map is good. Were the Ranger stations deleted? I could not look through all 14 pages, but it was there at the start and now seems missing. Is that intentional.
If derricks too much, maybe make the drops all black and more like a traditional water drop. The oil derricks are actually just oil drops. Initially I was looking to use derricks and at some point I decided these would be smaller and would work better. But perhaps an old fashioned derrick would in fact work best.

Well, it makes it more challenging to ensure balanced gameplay. So yeah, hard to tell yet if I will succeed with it or not.MrBenn wrote:The arrows on the rivers are not that clear, and like Andy, I'm not sure that the 'downstream canoes' idea makes for balanced gameplay.
I'm not sure what to do with this besides continue to analyze and hope that continued revisions to graphics and gameplay help with that.Getting rid of the multitude of orange dots was a good move, but the map still feels cluttered and I still think there is way too much going on.
I understand what you are saying here. I will work on seeing what I can do. Thanks again for the input! The dual-region territories could do with some work - I dislike the abrupt colour-change mid-territory - perhaps you could try and make the colour change more gradual?
Though I can definitely understand why you would want to use canoes, they do seem a bit confusing to me, also. Maybe just make them docks and call them "canoe launches" instead? It would be more consistant with other maps. Or maybe you could make the canoes a smaller graphic???MrBenn wrote:The arrows on the rivers are not that clear, and like Andy, I'm not sure that the 'downstream canoes' idea makes for balanced gameplay.
I appreciate the post friend. I'm sorry to say that all my maps are suffering delays due to some real life stuff. I keep expecting to get back on track with them but then another thing comes up. I do appreciate the interest and I do hope to get some kind of update up this week.whitestazn88 wrote:when are we going to get an update on this thing?
i've been quietly following this maps progress, and i've gone from not wanting to even see it in the foundry to waiting to play it.
the improvements have been vast, and i can't wait to see what else is in store
we await your triumphant return.seamusk wrote:OK, I was hoping my real life issues would be just a temporary blip but I've gotta put all my maps on vacation. I'll be back but I have to take care of things here first.
