A list of honest, reliable and willing people to cover for holidays/vacations
This will improve the following aspects of the site:
Stop people deadbeating while away on holiday
Easier for the shyer members of our comunity to find someone trustworthy
In Britain/Europe we have entered the main holiday season, and finding an account sitter can be difficult, especially if you are not in a clan. The more experienced players are probably ok, but newer members will not know who to trust.
The acount sitters on the list will need to be seconded by a certain number of other players as to their suitability to be on the list.
Provided the vetting process was correct, perhaps the Babysitters could be set up as a Usergroup in order to ensure people did not slip through the net and to add a level of security.
i dont see why they dont implent a Accountsitting System. Just write in who you want to accountsit you and send request and they and their Gamemenu will open in a new TAB and they dont need to tell the pw. Much safer. They can just join games, (not theirself ofc) and take turns.

You would still have to find someone who you trustin the first place.
Join a clan. You'll see who is on a lot and who can babysit. Since joining a clan a month ago, I've done account sitting for people and now have a list of who I'd ask if need for one by me ever came up...
My ever constant two last games seem to have no end in sight!

that's right and i am a member of a clan... but many people are too new to be a member or know anyone well enough to entrust a babysitter.

Quite sure that there is a vacation setting that should solve this in the works.
this suggestion was actually in response to that... you leave for a couple of goes and you may as well just commit suicide. Babysitters are a much better option.

That would probably require some very CC addicted ppl that has a lot of free time all year round(which is definitely not me since I have school in late August). Nevertheless, this is a good idea.
agreed Joo, if for example you had a User group made up of trusted members, the burden could be shared between then.. Then to the people who needed cover for their games it would be like having the support of a clan when they are too new to be part of one.
That would be cool. A bunch of volunteer "staff members" who are deemed reliable enough to be allowed in a usergroup, and anybody who needs a sitter can just approach the group.

Not everybody wants to join a clan.
A place where you can go and request a sitter and know that you are not going to get skanked or ripped off would be nothing but beneficial to all. One off the biggest complaints is about deadbeating and this would solve one cause.

Yep, there is. That may be ok for a couple of days, but not for 2 weeks and not in an escalating game.
There was an idea about having the possibility to set a list of people that is allowed to make your moves (if you're away) without the need for giving out your password. IIRC lack has said it will be added.

it is a completely different concept.
this is for people who may not know a list of people who they could give access to their account- new players, rare forum visitors.. whatever. this offers a list of people (Usergroup) who are recommended regarding their trustworthiness, by a minimum quota of other users. Giving easy and relatively safe access to a group of babysitters.
i would and do help out players whom i play with regularly if they ask me. i would consider helping out anyone else for a small fee,say...6 beers per day for 20 turns or less

Of course you can. But there is need for much greater trust if you're handing over your whole account than just giving someone the right to take your moves.
