So Firefox has decided to bug out on me recently (it was displaying the forums oddly, Live Chat wouldn't load, other weird stuff too), so I decided to download Opera and give it a try. It's an interesting browser, hard to get used to, but it has a lot of stuff Firefox doesn't (though I think it's uglier).
So, what do you guys think? Which is better, Firefox or Opera?

Never heard of the latter, though Phantom of the Opera (the one that came out a few years back) was the first movie that ever put me to sleep.

The musical was good though. Of course, there you don't have to follow the plot, just listen.

Opera! It rocks waaay more. Speed dial, built-in bittorrent, magic wand for filling in forms and stuff... it is so well thought out. Also Firefox was using up too much CPU or memory or whatever. used to slow it all down. Opera is much cleaner.
The only downside with opera is that the latest hotmail upgrade makes it incompatible. They might have fixed that by now though, i never rememebr to check for updates.
Opera, from what I remember is a much smaller program. Its "built for speed" as they say. I think its a tit for tat trade off. I bet that there are some things that firefox is superior at and likewise for Opera. Both kick ie's lame ass, I think.
Firefox has had some buggy shit in their latest release, but I hope they figure it out soon.
Firefox does everything, but has all the disadvantages that brings.
Opera has most of the nice stuff as standard (e.g. better ad/popup blocking, better autofill, better built-in irc client), but is much more limited in other areas by it's closed source nature and such (greasemonkey doesn't work, can;t get all the custom themes/novelty plugins you can for FF)
Personally, I opt for firefox (or, as Firesomething memorably rendered it, Mozilla Turbofinch) most days but use opera on relatively low spec PCs, or ones I use for browing with a purpose and not so much for pleasure.
... I have to agree with Exile there. I've been using Opera now for... 3 years? It's great at a lot of things but it just doesn't mesh well with a lot of downloads. I use both, depending on what I am looking at, but Firefox is generally better, in the broad view.
I haven't had a lot of experience with Opera, mostly because I agree with Ink, it's kinda ugly, & I found it took too much time for me to learn and got lazy...lol...I find FF easier to navigate with & love my Greasemonkey too much...especially BOB...
<Juan_Bottom>You're like the Barry Bonds of drinking. You don't need the practice you just do it because you like it.
Opera browser is a better browser on face value with it's extra stuff, but it will not allow you to use 3rd party add-ons like firefox does. It has alot of the more popular 3rd party addons built in to the actual browser, but doesn't allow the customizability like FF does.
FF is better in that you can add 3rd party addons and themes to your hearts content. You can even make some if you know how.
Safari is the fastest browser on the web. Especially on Vista it's 5-10x faster than any of the other browsers on Vista. Strange I know.
I like Firefox better than IE or Opera, although I only know of Opera from reading about it. I would use Opera if I was a speed freak, but I'm not so I use Firefox. IE isn't even worth considering.
