Cola is correct that it's difficult now to seperate the 2 main parties , not sure its a bad thing though as we can concentrate a bit more on issues rather than slavishly toeing the party line regardless. The Liberals have had countless opportunities to spice up the mix but have an unfortunate habit of electing leaders who are better suited playing bit parts in a Brian Rix style farce. My view is that devolution was and is an absolutely ghastly error, the so called West Lothian question has never been properly addressed and will always stoke resentment. If the Scots/Welsh/ N Irish/English want to leave the Union then let them do , its all a bit of a red herring anyway as they will all still be part of the EEC I assume so it would be largely a cosmetic exercise, eg if in 10 years Scotland became hugely affluent then other Brits could simply move north and take a slice.

I met him once and at the time thought he was a contender, the impression I got though was he was more style than substance, think he would have made a very poor leader in retrospect.

Bah, it's always been either Labour or Tory governments for the past 100 years or so.
Whenever (not if) one cocks up, we vote in the other and so on....

PMs and MPs are always too old in my opinion, they are never in touch with the times they intend to lead.
