What would happen if the CC Flame Wars forum was removed ?

What would happen if the CC Flame Wars forum was removed ?

Any and all points of view ... go ahead ...
But please in a General Discussion appropriate way

Alternatively, or in addition, please see this thread's twin in the Flame Wars forum ...

it would definitely increase at first (since certain peoples' playground would be gone), but in the long run it'd decrease. send a message that flaming is not acceptable behaviour. make examples of people who aren't playing well with others. as long as offenses are punished, it'll change the makeup of the forum.

right now people will flame and be told, "take it to flame wars guys". that says it's ok to flame until someone tells you not to. Or that if you flame elsewhere, it'll just get moved to flame wars later so no big deal.

get rid of it. get rid of that immature behaviour.

I'm in agreement with edbeard on this one. To start there would be an outcry and people would cause a fuss, and then the community would probably benefit from it in the long run.

-Flaming would increase for a while.
-Then the mods would start warning and then banning people who flame.
-When new people come to CC there would not be a Flame Wars thread. They would see no reason to think that this type of behavior is ok.
-Eventually the people who do this would be gone and the problem would be over.

I mean as far as I understand it the flame wars thread was setup because it was too hard to moderate the forums early on in the life of CC.
It serves no constructive purpose.
It is only there to drive hate and anger among the players, get rid of it.

I agree.

I've only gone into the flame wars a couple times, and every time I do, I'm amazed the low level of intelligence displayed there. I think it would greatly improve this website in the long run if it was deleted.

I agree.

Flame Wars would be gone, so flaming would be gone? That's your ingenious peoples' opisions, right?

Do the multi hunters stop there from being multis? No

Do the Suggestions/Bug Reports forum stop there from being problems? No

Does appointing admins to control the site stop there from being friction? No (Just look at the Twill/Wicked Debacle.)

Why you people think that just because there is no symptom means the disease would go away is ridiculous.

Not to mention, most of you don't go in FW anyway, so why do you care? Honestly, what makes you give a shit about it? For the people that use it, it helps relieve stress that they WILL otherwise take out on the community at large.

And, if it doesn't have direct affect on your life, why post in this thread at all? Where is your own rage and indignation coming from?

completely agree, and while it there is a certain amount of dick-tude that's caused by FW, most if it is kept there and most of it is completely harmless. i've flamed prowler, deliaselene, owenshooter, and many others but have also played games with them on the site and while much of what we say seems vehement, it's more like r-rated humor which the mods seem to hate outside of flame wars.

also, while people are constantly badgered in the normal threads to keep posts on topic to the OP's desires, flame wars is actually much more fun to participate in a conversation in because of the low amount of regulation. an actual conversation is allowed to occur and i feel that a large group would be alienated should it be removed.

are things that bad that map foundry is soooo negatively effected by flame wars' presence. i think not.

I am usually a FW regular, and I have even flamed trapyoung several times, but have I flamed ONE PERSON in a chat? No. Have I flamed people out side of FW? No.

Why not just keep FW?
