It would be nice if you play with a regular doubles partner (or triples for that matter) if you could enter both of you into a game at the same time. It can be hard to co-ordinate both being online to enter together and sometimes you can even miss out then with someone jumping in that you weren't really expecting to partner with- though I have made a couple of new friends by mistake that way
Perhaps you could reserve a spot for <user>, but couldn't necessarily sign them up...as I see that would be open to abuse. People signing up random people etc, forcing them to play? No good.
But perhaps reserving a spot would be a better option.
That is certainly a reasonable alternative. I had envisioned some kind of a permission process so that a player would not be entered against their will, but the ability to reserve a spot for a period of time for another player would work well also.
The option to make a private game go public is already on the To-Do list and I think this would solve this problem.

well not really. They like to join games with existing teams in them, so they know who they are playing against. If they aren't starting the game, they still need to make sure they both join right after each other.
i was just about to start a thread like this myself as i am havin problems with it myself. FP made the exact point i was going to make. the ability to take away the password would enable your team to join and then make the game public. this would b a great addition
This would probably work best with a friends list. Basically anyone on your friends list could join your reserved slot to be on your team.
However if none of your friends show up in after a certain amount of time, you get dropped from the game so a real team can play. Assuming you're not the game creator of course.
I can't think of a way to implement this without opening it up to a lot of abuse.
Maybe if you want to play with your partner, just wait until you can both be online at the same times and then join some games at the same time to make sure you both get in. Or join passworded games... Or start creating your own games.....

That is usually what we do, but there have been occasions where someone is joining at the same time we are and then one of us is out.
I checked the list in the sticky to see if this had been dealt with and couldn't find anything so I'm going to post it.
Setting up a public team game as a team is difficult. Especially if I want to team with someone who for example has an 8 hour time difference to me.
In terms of setting up a team game like this then the option to remove the password from a private game, making it public, would suffice nicely. This could also be useful for some standard games as well I suspect.
For joining an existing game as a team it would be more complicated. But some sort of mechanism to join as a team or an individual. Teams could have passwords so only people in the team could join it. Individuals join the public team, first full team gets entered.
The second option may seem to much effort and overly compicate the UI but the first seems pretty simple to implement.
OK I know everyone says if you want certain people to join your game then make a private game. Honestly that sounds good and all, but it's not very practical for people who don't like trolling the call out forums.
My suggestion is would it be possible to create games where you can save a spot for your teammates?...
ex:
Create a game and have the option to add players name to your team under the how many players selection.
OK now instead of having -empty- slots you would see -reserved- and others could join in unreserved spots!!! This would be a great option for clans looking to practice certain maps without having to be online or spending a lot of time and energy trying to organize private games...
The reserved would be resolved by your suggestion Andy, however just say I see a 3 player game i'd like to join - I have no chance of getting my team in unless they are all online at the same time and even then you sometimes get a random getting in as the team is joining.
It would be useful to have some kind of unique identifier that allowed you to reserve the slots for other team members. Reserve slots could expire after 12 hours.
