Well, to not support your nation. I don't know where you live, but here in the US things are getting bad. Our "two party" system is in reality two slightly dissimilar sections of the same group, and as such we've been heading in the same direction for a while. At the moment, we're trillions of dollars in debt (largely the reason our economy is in such bad shape) and it's only getting worse. We've almost reached the point that we'll never be able to pay it back. Eventually, people will stop handing us money, and then we will sink into a depression. The reason that we have allowed things to get to this point is because we've danced the "God Bless the U.S.A." jig for so long that our political system has rotted. What I want to see is a populace that regards its government with a critical eye, a fluid party system, and at least a lack of growth of our imperialist notions.HapSmo19 wrote:Speak for yourself. Edit: I would however, like to hear just what it is you think everyone needs right now.

No. I was using the U.S. as an example because it is familiar to me. Personally I hate my government, and I think that most of our country consists of clueless retards. Maybe that's considered nationalism nowadays. Allow me to clarify my post. I feel that the reason the situation in my country has gotten so bad is because nationalist tendencies led to an extremely patriotic citizenry that no longer questions its government (in any substantial way, at least). I can't for the life of me understand the value of blind loyalty to anything, let alone a ruling body. It hardly constitutes democracy. Nationalism and patriotism let the powerful run rampant. This is a very bad thing.HapSmo19 wrote:Frigidus wrote:Nationalism is probably the last thing anyone needs right now.HapSmo19 wrote:......I would however, like to hear just what it is you think everyone needs right now.So you're a nationalist?Frigidus wrote:Well, to not support your nation. Here's something more like it: http://www.nationalistpartyusa.com/
1. I am no more devoted to my nations interests than anyone else who happens to have been born here. Indeed, I get rather upset when my nation's vague interests are placed above the well-being of those who live outside of it. Strike one.Nationalist Party Headquarters wrote: The Definition of a Nationalist:
1. Devotion to the interests or culture of one's nation.
2. The belief that nations will benefit from acting independently rather than collectively emphasizing national rather than international goals.
3. Aspirations for national independence in a country under foreign dominance.
Have I somehow given the impression that I'm a racist f*ck? I'm just not sure where this is coming from.Nationalist Party Headquarters wrote:The Nationalist will reject "Multiculturalism" in all its sordid forms.

the troubling thing is, by the time one goes to collect the ball, you realize you are staring at an entire lawn of balls, all made at half cost and rated higher by focus groups because of their adaptability in design and performance.Neoteny wrote:Particularly after intentionally throwing the ball over the fence in the first place.got tonkaed wrote:While i understand the appeal and even think they argue rather consistently from within the framework, i question how anyone can really believe taking ones ball and going home is an appropriate way to deal with the current world system.
As you might notice from my avatar, it's hard for me to resist talking about balls. Especially ergonomic, efficient ones.got tonkaed wrote:the troubling thing is, by the time one goes to collect the ball, you realize you are staring at an entire lawn of balls, all made at half cost and rated higher by focus groups because of their adaptability in design and performance.Neoteny wrote:Particularly after intentionally throwing the ball over the fence in the first place.got tonkaed wrote:While i understand the appeal and even think they argue rather consistently from within the framework, i question how anyone can really believe taking ones ball and going home is an appropriate way to deal with the current world system.

Haha, what, not supporting my nation and being upset with my nation are inconsistent?HapSmo19 wrote:HapSmo19 wrote:I would however, like to hear just what it is you think everyone needs right now.Frigidus wrote:Well, to not support your nation.Do you have any consistent views? Actually, considering the immense impact the US has on the world at large (not to mention me) I have plenty to complain about. Just because I am not devoted to the interests of my country doesn't mean I'm not devoted to other things.HapSmo19 wrote:Then you have nothing to complain about.Frigidus wrote:I am no more devoted to my nations interests than anyone else who happens to have been born here..
