Vietnam

I am relatively new to this site and my first post in the foundry, so forgive me if this has been brought up before (which I'm sure it has).

Has Vietnam been explored? There are some good elements here, North and South, DMZ historical significance, could probably add sea ports as a way to connect the north and south, or include the US forces as a third party, bonuses for cities...

anyway, any thoughts?

Indochina is not same like Vietnam war.

a vietnam war map could be made.. but i think owen once said in a previous attempt at it, that it is a slightly sensitive subject in US history. so make sure you do all the right research.

personally, my family came from vietnam after the war, so it would be nice to see the map developed

Hi Carmens - What happened when the last time this idea was put up is that there was (by me) a pretty good idea on how to set up very distinct gameplay that would make an accurate representation of the war, as well as gameplay quite different that the Indochina map. It was abandoned by the fellow who I was working with to do the graphics part. I have a pretty detailed pencil sketch, but don't have the patience to mess around with photoshop that much, nor feeling a great amount of love for this site that has some serious issues on proliferation of dubious maps. If you want to do this project, I'd be glad to team up with you to kick off and work on gameplay.

I say go for it. It'll make a good map, I've played one on Lux that's based on Vietnam and it worked really well.
As for it being a sensitive issue, there are far more sensitive subjects with maps on here - Bamboo Jack was the one that actually quite shocked me - so if we Brits can deal with that then I'm sure the Americans can handle a map of Vietnam.
