Too true. I can't deny the respect I have for someone who can resist the charms of such for more nobler causes, but I also can't help but feel that they are missing out (much like we are on proper animal care of the animals we eat).jonesthecurl wrote:Actually, the curlson as well as the curlette seems to be playing with the idea. Thank the gods for the tempting smell of bacon!

So as not to taint the thread, I'll chime in later with my own thoughts.

She's 10, and very much a foodie. Until this surprise twist she was quite interested in cooking too, but is of course now much restricted in her options there.khazalid wrote:hmm, i wonder how old she is?
tell her that when she grows up she will have to work to make a living. and so do the milk cows!
Despite being an avid meat eater, I'm actually a proponent of tofu. It's rather versatile.Jenos Ridan wrote:Tell her nothing, let her taste buds do the talking. Have you even tried tofu? If not, don't.
Given me a hardy bowl of beef stew anyday. Don't think I've ever had mutton or lamb, otherside of the odd gyro, I think that would be because I might be the only one in my family who might like it.

Attaboy.jonesthecurl wrote:Yes, nothing wrong with tofu prepared well.
I am almost tempted to make her veggie food boring and repetetive, to bring her round. But I find I can't deliberately make bad food, it just runs counter to my instincts.
Maybe I should just say "I'll cook the meat dishes, your Mum can do the veggie ones!"
[if you're reading this Mrs curl, I was just kidding. If you're not, I'm sure that would work!]
Good news is, tonight I made a turkey version of shepherd's pie and a veggie version - the curlson went for the turkey.

Tofu as a substitute is terrible. Tofu as its own independent ingredient (such as in egg flower soup) is great.Neoteny wrote:Despite being an avid meat eater, I'm actually a proponent of tofu. Snails are vile, tasteless creatures. Eat them if you must, but you cannot force them on me.jonesthecurl wrote:anyhow back to the debate:

Texture-wise they are ok, if you can handle very chewy things (similar to octopus, but chewier, I think). But, and this could just be bad preparation, they are probably the blandest things I've ever eaten.muy_thaiguy wrote:So much for being a delicacy.Neoteny wrote:Snails are vile, tasteless creatures. Only if it's a red squirrel. There's too many gray squirrels, and they bully the reds.jonesthecurl wrote: should I feel grief for every roadkill squirrel?

I personally have no experience with red squirrels, but I do know that I wish for every gray squirrel in these here parts to suffer a slow painful death and be sent to hell for the vile, evil creatures they are.pimpdave wrote:Only if it's a red squirrel.
