Suggestion: Nicknames

Concise description:

• Allow users (maybe only premiums?) to have a certain number of "nicknames"

Specifics:

• In your profile, you could have a list of nicknames, and a certain one selected. The username you sign up with would always be the default, or "official" name. When you select a different nickname, it would be like changing your username on the site. However, other users would still be able to know who you really are, either by having an option to always display default usernames, or having default usernames otherwise displayed in posts.

This will improve the following aspects of the site:

• Just adds another dimension of fun to the forums

I wanted it at some point in time, but not anymore. After a while in the forums you "get to know" some of the people around. And if they changed their names, then I would have to look up in their profile to see who they are. That would just be annoying.

I would personally not change my name, although I just chose it randomly when I joined, I have grown used to it. You will also find that many of the people that post often do not continuously change their avatars because it is part of their "identity" or just the easiest way people recognize them. Myself included. I have only had 3 avatars during the whole time at cc.

I remember I suggested something to the sort of this a while back, and most of the people, especially the high ranked told me that they did not want to have all of the confusion around.

Yeah, that was kinda like what I meant. And it wouldn't mean you could only have one nickname.

But you wouldn't have to go to someone's profile to know who they are. It could be displayed like medals are:

That could be one way it would work. But there are several ways you could have the person's real name displayed. It could be on the side instead, for example.

Having a line of text above or below your avatar, that you could change at will and which wasn't toggled to Pcount, would be awesome.

you should have a toggle on the control panel for wether or not you really want to see the Name.

I'd support this, though there may be better ways to accomplish this. (don't ask me for specifics, I don't have any)
