Remember, your rank used to place you in round one was decided when you signed up. Some of us have since changed ranks since then; some for the better, others for the worse.
The first casualties have been identified. ajyang and xabigerrard were the first two players eliminated in their game. This means that trigger467 and abconquer will advance to round 2.
As in the case of the above situation, one player has eliminated two others. This means that if the third player eliminates the first player, he will gain points, however, he could give up and still advance since he is the second to last man standing. Because of this and to make all rounds interesting until the end, there has been a slight rule change. The final 1 v 1 round will no longer be determined by the last man standing method. Instead, the winner will be declared by the person that has earned the most number of points throughout the tournament. (Original thread updated)
One game completed when trigger467 eliminated all three of his opponents gaining 61 points. abconquer moves on to round two with -17 points due to the fact that he was one of the last two players standing.
lonestarboi was eliminated for missing too many turns and his points are still up for grabs.
iffy boatrace eliminated smurfette to capture 15 points.
After careful review, I realized that using the method of points gained - points lost = total point after each round would cause different people to advance than I had previously mentioned. Therefore, since this is a tournament that awards points for termination, no one will lose points when they are taken out in the structure of the tournament.
For example, if one player eliminates the other three in the game, the third player eliminated will advance with zero points since they did not take anyone out. In another example, if you take a player out and gain 15 points but then you get eliminated and lose 20 points, your total points for the round will be +15. In the tournament, you will not lose points from your cumulative total.
Using this method will ensure that those eliminated but advance still have a decent chance to win the tournament instead of just those that "win the game" in any round.
I hope this makes sense and is more fair than the way I had originally started determining points.
I will make an adjustment to the point status on the first page within the next 24 hours.
