Continue the hate, players, here's another terrible suggestion.
Each player chooses in order of preference up to three tiny (15x25pixel?) player flags. There will be a library of every flag for every nation earth to choose from, as well as some fantasy and fictional flags, plus the ability to upload/link flags of your own design.
Upon entering a game, your name and armies will have your preferred flag next to them, unless someone ahead of you in the rotation has selected the same flag, in which case flag selection defaults to your second choice, and then your third (and, if that's already taken too, some random flag).
