does the white-ness take some getting used to? been awhile since i saw this again and its hurting my eyes a little. better put on some shades.

The ship on both versions seems to be pixellated even though I know it's not. I think it's caused by the very subtle blue dots in the white background. If you erased those that coincide with the ship, it should look a bit clearer.

As someone already mentioned the regions' names are barely legible.
Maybe adding a dark outline (stroke) to the text could help...but it could also be a bad idea as it might create even more confusion. Either way I suggest you try to do something about the regions' names legibility.

  ...Visually I'm not a fan of the boat - it looks a bit too grey-scaled and not line-art enough to fit the 18th century theme of the map. Maybe drive it to line a bit more, or at least do something about the perfectly flat bottom...

This map has been moved into temporary retirement, as there has been no updates for nearly a month...

If the mapmaker wants to continue with the map, then one of the CAs will be able to help put the thread back into the Foundry system after an update has been posted

I prefer the minimap myself. Although if you did go with the minimap I would like to see the continent names in the colour that represents the region with a black stroke.

I think it looks good on the main... the black text floating around the mini-map ruins how clean that part of the map looks to me.

Sorry but I'm on again about name and coordinate placement please, in some areas you've got great congestion which could be lessened with a little movement around, and make the maps looks so much better.
1. at the top of the large map i can't tell what the territory name is for red r33...is is artois or flanders...perhaps a line to indicate
2. it's all very congested around NORD...are you able to move that congestion out a little and give some space, perhaps even move the NORD name somewhere where it is less congested...there is all that real estate in Champagne
3. Same in Ouest
4. Gascogne - the tert name is split from the corrdinate by SUD yet there is plenty of real estate there so move SUD-OUEST north
5. you have some names sitting almost on top armies eg in Languedoc yet there is plenty of space to give them some breathing room.
6. there is nothing on your maps to denote "impassables"
7. is it possible to move name for Germanique and Alsace - swap....i think Alsace is too far away from it's coordinate
8. with 6 above can you try placing the title over in the left bottom corner closer to the compass/mini map grouping to see if it would look any better
9. small map is very cramped in Provence yet there is room for movement there, same with Dauphine
10. can you centre Sardaigne name better
