um, that is the point. this thread should have been moved to the foundry and does not belong in the GD. but since the mods are mega slow right now, nobody expects any sort of swift or rational actions. the most we can hope for is, is for owen to get another ridiculous ban. soooo, why don't you move this thread where it belongs mr. night strike, instead of trying to help a topic that belongs in the foundry, flourish in the gd? oh, and the bpb kick ass!!!Night Strike wrote:Guys, this thread is about the Oasis map, not the band. If you want to talk about the band, head to Off-topics. Thanks.

For real...shouldn't we have noticed there is a new map called "Oasis" and that this thread is located in "general discussion"?Night Strike wrote:Guys, this thread is about the Oasis map, not the band. If you want to talk about the band, head to Off-topics. Thanks.
This was meant to be a discussion of strategy. But the thought never occurred to me to post in that subforum. Honestly, why does that place even exist? It's even more dead than Announcements!MrBenn wrote:If it turned into a discussion about strategy, it could be put into the strategy forum... at the moment it's looking more like it's off-topics / borderline foundry flaming...
Well, in that case.........InkL0sed wrote:This was meant to be a discussion of strategy. But the thought never occurred to me to post in that subforum. Honestly, why does that place even exist? Agree!!InkL0sed wrote: But I digress. On to Oasis strategy:
I learned very quickly on my first game that taking an Oasis first or second round is an absolute must. Right now, I see a lot of people (mostly me) taking a large, early lead by taking one Oasis the first round, then a second the second round, and so on, and having three or even four by the time somebody else gets their first.
That's the only concrete tactic so far I've found. One observation is that the objective is by far the easiest to get than on any other map. In fact, with the wide separation between players, I have yet to see a game end through something other than elimination. Finally, we have an objective that isn't forced, and yet has taken the place of elimination as the preferred path to winning.
I disagree. lets say I take an oasis and have 2 or 3 men on it on the first turn. there are obviously several people around me, all capable of taking the oasis back from me. however, if they think (this is a premise hard to achieve at times), they will see that if they take my oasis, then someone else will do the same to them easily.StarofTroy wrote:I don't think you have to take an oasis on the first turn. In fact sometimes it's better to wait. especially if you can't reinforce any armies to that oasis. Sometimes I think it's better to stack up and wait for someone else to take the oasis and then steal it from them. I also think that the upper most oasis is awesome. If you can get one on the top right or the top left then get that middle one right away since people wont think to get there and if you can keep it one turn then you're waaaay ahead of everyone else. That works even better in FoG games. Ofcourse it also sucks if someone else gets it.
