I'm going to have to agree with Teya, and ask... like what?AndyDufresne wrote:There are so many better ideas out there waiting.
Hmm, I value any new idea for a map. The more maps there are, the better. I think you should pursue this idea or better still why not create a fantasy map of you own? This way you can make it the way you like and implement new ideas.KEYOGI wrote:I'm going to have to agree with Teya, and ask... like what?AndyDufresne wrote:There are so many better ideas out there waiting.
Chinese Checkers is the only new map that seems to be unique. It seems all the other new maps are either variations of Europe or are using capital cities to try and be unique.
I'm keen to add some sort of twist to the gameplay, but the rules of map making are very restricting.
I don't know, I've been trying to think of a map not based too much on the planets geography. I think there are too many maps being based off our existing coninents and boundries, my Australia map included.
GodStorm adds Atlantis and uses different boundries, but I think it'd be nice if we had more maps based on books, games or movies that use completely different geography. However, copyright is an issue there.
Is there room for maps that are completely made up? I think there are, but I don't think they'd have the mass appeal required to get through the foundry.
Haha!Teya wrote:
Like what? Another europe map? I personally like the idea of this map. Im getting sick of maps like eastern front, 1914, europe apocalypse, europa v2.0. All so similar and not offering anything new or different.
I do look through the map ideas thread occasionally. But I'm not going to read through 28 pages, maybe someone could update the list in the first post.AndyDufresne wrote:Maybe if you read through the map ideas thread...you would know. I'm tired of all the Europe RehashigPlus, there is always the Russia, people were working on that, but it took the back burner, and Oceania...no one has event attempted that yet, plus a number of others.

Yes, start a poll to gauge people's interest. I think that's the best thing to do.KEYOGI wrote:Andy, if I put up a poll for this map and it gets support, would you agree to having it made?reverend_kyle wrote:I really wish you wouldnt, it is a great map.
I'll think long and hard about incorporating some sort of gameplay twist to make the map truely unique.
It may just be me reading your post wrong, but I mean Atlantis as in a map of Atlantis. Just want to make that clear.Ruben Cassar wrote:Although I like the name Atlantis, I prefer God Storm as the map doesn't focus only on Atlantis.KEYOGI wrote:What about Atlantis?
It's funny you mention this, but did you know that there are studies that suggest that Malta is actually the tip of the lost continent Atlantis? These studies suggest that Malta is a huge mountain (or something) and the only part of Atlantis that is not submerged. I will look for them if I find them and give you a link.KEYOGI wrote:It may just be me reading your post wrong, but I mean Atlantis as in a map of Atlantis. It's not clear whether the place is real or myth, but there's enough information out there to base a map on. It would be completely unique from a geography point of view.
I'd prefer to make Atlantis for it's uniqueness, but when it comes down to it I'd prefer to make GodStorm because most of the hardwork is already done and we know it already has good playability.
I guess we'll await further voting in the poll and see what Andy has to say about it all. When it comes down to it, we don't need another Europe map.
