I find the opposite. When I try to be careful and attack the levels of intensity tend to be lower on my end because there is no boldness backing them.

Agreeing w/ The Neon Peon, I also find this to be the opposite for me. I used to do the regular attack, but now I do the auto-attack more often because it'll usually let me get over in a match w/ a tert that has 50% more armies than I do. Many times I'll end up losing only a few and they'll be demolished.

i love the way people like you get everyone paranoid about using auto
a couple of my (very high-ranking) friends and me always use auto-attack and as you can tell, it works for us

the other thing i love is how all the low rankers say that cc is only about dice (because that way nobody will think they are bad players, just unlucky)

It's like any game, you have the randomness of the dice but the main part is being able to anticipate what your opponent will do, sometimes seeing their possible moves several turns ahead, and basing your moves on that. If you play chess (and are any good) you'll have experience with this and this will help you succeed.

An excellent point. I find that risk is very similar to playing chess in that you do have to think of your opponents options a few turns ahead of time. Using this strategy you can determine what the most intelligent move for them would be or what you might do if you were them. I love a good game of chess and played it many years before I ever discovered risk. Very good correlation and a great post.

But in chess, can you ever get that satisfying feeling of pitting your queen against a pawn and losing? I thought not.

Thx n00blet itsmedicineman, no one insulted chess, you've really got to read a post and understand it first before responding to it. I said CC is like chess IN THAT (and this is how I'm comparing the 2) you anticipate your opponent's possible actions. I never mentioned luck in chess. That was another person's post and they never mentioned chess.

And in chess first turn isn't really as random as it is on CC, and in chess the drop is always the same unlike on here. Like n00blet said, the only comparison made is in the strategic aspect. What's weird is that I'm only half-assed at chess but I'm pretty good at this game
