It's a good idea, I don't think it would slow it down very much, but that's why there should be an ON/OFF switch.

Maybe the slowing down and text formatting problems could be solved if smaller, round smiles were used (no bigger than the text) similar to cboxes.

Also maybe nonanimated would be easier.

OK guys, when I said to make every message in smiley form, I was just kidding. Perhaps it would be better not to annoy the mods into submission with our comments :roll:

So you may all commence with full English messages now. :D

Sorry about that :oops:

As I said : it's just a little laugh that went a little too far...

An ON/OFF button should be available for those who don't wish to be spammed in this way.

Let's face it : there's plenty of spam in our games at the moment, smileys wouldn't make much difference; and perhaps the button would make them invisible ??

And there's something satisfying about putting those yellow blobs in a message :)

XD would be like laughing, you find something funny and such... x: is just :x, some people like to do their emoticons backwards ( like (: ): )': ect.).

Not with an On/Off button. If someone doesn't want to see smileys, their button will make it so they can't see them.

Very true. It's also a good sarcasm smiley which I'm in desperate need of in my game chats. Nothing worse when you tell your opponent "wow, you are so good." and they actually think you mean it. :oops: :x
