tourny priveleges

Post by joeyjordison »

i had tourny priveleges briefly but they were taken away due to the new rules (i can't find the post but AK sent me a quote). my clan the imperial dragoons had 3 people with privs, 1 for doing internal tournaments, 1 for inter-clan tournaments or people challenging us to games, and me for the dragoons open games (a series of ongoing games between high ranked and honorable players).

my point is that i thought the old system for tourny privs was fine and i didn't c any problem with the way it was working... i would like it to change so that the tournaments don't hav to be public for the organiser to get tourny privs. the present rules basically mean that elite games may also be threatened. tournies can hav requirements to enter so can't one of the requirements just be to be in a clan? or to be in a specific clan?

edit: also is there a disadvantage to more people having tourny privs? i know the tournies page may get a bit clogged up but surely if they are all tournaments then its ok?

Can't clan games simply be made as private games? It's not as big a problem as coordinating a tourney where you barely know the players involved and a high percentage aren't premium.

I thought you understoood from my pm's, but I guess not.

Tourny privs exist so that tourny organizers may create games for other players to join. That is why they are called TOURNY privs.

When I was made Tourny Director, myself and Lack agreed to a set of rules about tournament priveledges. A lot of the people who were using them for "elite" games before the rules were implemented were allowed to keep them.

However, here are the rules.
To get tournament priveledges in the first place, you must host a public tourny. After the tourny is completed, your priveledges will be removed UNLESS....
lackattack wrote:As for "other things such as the Elite games and in-clan tournys" I think a compromise would be to let organizers keep privs for that stuff after the tourney if...

1. they are premium
2. they ask for it
3. but only for 3 months or so then they have to run another tourney for us

Tournament privs are for people who are running open tournaments, not private games. There is no new "system". The TDs must have done some housekeeping :)

Like qeee mentioned, "elite" games and private in-clan tournys can be organized by a few members with premium membership. They are not being threeatened at all.

i agree, is it difficult to implement private games with names? it would helped us to distinguish between a series of special "named" games and real private games.
