I will post another picture in a few hours if no one has guessed it but first some other hints:
The two largest male roles were both played by former army men, but from different countries and not from the films country of production.
One of them was special forces and a martial arts expert. The other one had a UK #1 hit single a few years after this movie.
Adaptation of a novel.
The actor playing the main character involuntarily started to cry during the sad end scene so they had to reshoot it.
The title of the novel and the movie refers to a real person that isn´t in the movie.
