Old, I know, but I did not know that Wyoming, Montana, and Idaho were part of the Pacific North West. Idaho might be more believable, but the ocean is about 1000 miles from Wyoming and Montana!

I was born and raised in Washington. It's definitely Pacific Northwest. so is Oregon. Idaho kinda is...but I'm not sure if the Idahoan would agree. Montana maybe...the panhandle of Idaho that is between Washington and Montana is only 45 minutes to drive through...so Montana could be....but Wyoming? I dunno about that. Is anybody here from Wyoming? Do you consider yourself to be in the pacific northwest?

I am from Wyoming (the only one that I know of on here), and we consider ourselves to be a plains state or, like in NCAA, Mountain West.

No, considering Wyoming and Montana are being called part of the Pacific North West, and yet being about 1000 miles from the nearest ocean, there is a bit of a difference there, yank.

Another strangeness... In Vermont, Parts of PA, various other regions non-locals are typically called "flatlanders". A friend and I rather chuckle at that since were were each born at higher elevations that those entire states!

I chuckle at people who move to Wyoming, especially when they move to Laramie from Coastal or low elevation states, as Laramie is over 7000 feet above sea level.

Minnesota is NOT part of the west. I'll give most people the option of deciding what part of the country they are part of...but not them. They aren't part of the west.

All this really means is that to the people of Philadelphia, Wyoming is part of the pacific northwest.

Remember, that is like, the fattest city in the nation, and so I doubt their brains are capable of much rational thought, aside from being horrible sports fans and finding their next cheesesteak.

I'd say Wyoming isn't part of the Pacific Northwest. And Minnesota isn't West OR East, lol.

You can go by these names



or these names.



West = Pacific Coast + Mountain.
Midwest = Heartland + Midwest.
Northeast = Mid-Atlantic + New England.
Southeast = Appalachian Highlands + Southeast.
Southwest = Southwest.
Nothing = Noncontiguous.

I imagine because the term "Midwest" was coined before the country had expanded all the way to the west coast. I mean, it's not like New England is a very appropriate name any more, but its stuck.
