There has been a lot of flaming since it went, especially in the chatter box, now I've reported a couple of these posts, but it makes you feel an idiot when you check the box this is a flame outside of flame wars when there is no flame wars, so it would be nice to know whether there is going to be an update as to what exactly admin's policy is.
As we all remember, Conquer Club decided to play an April Fool's Day joke on us all. You're a liar if you say you didn't believe it for at least a few seconds. Part of this transformation to the atrocity dubbed as "Cutesy Club" is that they got rid of Flame Wars, a sub-forum meant for insulting, taunting, and making your enemies cry. To replace it they added "Peace and Love." Well that's all well and good, I'm not forced to read it or post on it, so it doesn't bother me. But today is April 2nd (not April Fool's Day since I last checked), and my much loved sanctuary for calling my opponents names is still missing. How am I supposed to call japan_jeff a bestialistic hermaphrodite if Peace and Love inhibits my offensive words? BRING. BACK. FLAME. WARS. NOW.

There is already s suggestion for it but with the CM being "Conqueror of Love" and not "Lightning Rod of Hate"
I think Flame Wars us gone..
(Thankfully)

I wasn't one of the major contributor in Flame Wars but it was amusing to read and it gave people a place to vent.
IF in-game chat were moderated appropriately (and no, the current method is NOT appropriate in my opinion), then I would agree with your "place to vent" statement and would wholeheartedly support it.
Unfortunately, the Flame Wars ISN'T looked at as "the only place to vent" on the site and so it serves no real purpose except to get people geared up enough that when they DO go into their games, they're still in that mode.
So I guess I'm not at all in favor of it, as things currently stand.
Wow, I knew the mods had been hoping to get rid of FWs, but to do it like this? Pretty ridiculous. I myself don't mind too much because I don't spend so much time on CC. But still, getting rid of FWs was an idea that was immediately taken away in a heartbeat. Anyone remember the last time a mod asked the community about getting rid of FWs? Didn't last a second. I would show the thread, but because FWs is gone I can't get it. This was the GD version though:
Can't say I didn't see this coming though, mods have always been trying to get rid of FWs. (Part of the reason why two mod suck-ups are the only people defending it). If we are going to get rid of FWs permanently though, can we at least keep the old threads viewable to the public? Lots of history in there...

I'm a mod suck-up? I'm quite certain that Cicero and King Achilles (two mods I've had some..."pleasant conversations" with...would be quite surprised to hear me described as such a thing. Heck, I even stated in my "defense" (if you can call it that) that I didn't think in-game chat was moderated appropriately. How is THAT sucking up to the mods?

I was actually talking about kotaro and sailorseal, but you fast posted me.
Ha, not bringing Flame Wars back is taking the april fools joke too far... Perhaps we could call it something different for a change? The off-topic forum keeps changing its name afterall.

Rocket.
I'd vote for "Lame Wars"
PB: 2661 | He's blue...If he were green he would die | No mod would be stupid enough to do that

Ok when Flame Wars was replaced with Peace and Love I assumed it was an april fools joke... april fools is now over... please tell me it's not seriously gone for good?
What is interesting to see regular flame wars try and post in other threads around the forums, without flaming. So far you guys are struggling epicly. I have underlined every comment in your post, which constitutes a flame. It is amusing to watch 'regulars' experience the world of other forums - call it rehabilitation if you will. I know plenty of successful gaming websites with a zero-tolerance flaming rule, I've always seen CC quite lenient on that front. Maybe, if you guys learn how to cope without it they might return it but I certainly don't think flaming in other areas of the forum will help things .

Reason:Removed Flame Quote
FW had become a cesspool. It contributed nothing to the quality of this game site. It embarrassed the mothers of younger players. It kowtowed to the scatological bent of a few who haven't learned to talk properly in a room with children present.

And I've underlined everything in your post that is wrong. Try not to take it personally.

There are plenty of websites where you can flame to your heart's content. It is called porn. Just give them a valid credit card number, and you are in for all you can give it.
What exactly are the positives of having flame wars?
No flame wars => they start flaming in the forums => they get banned => you don't see "playerx f*** his own mom" when you scroll down to get to the clan and usergroup forums.
This is bizarre... the "Peace & Love" forum IS the Flame Wars forum, it just had it's name changed and they've yet to change it back (along with a few other elements). This reminds me of the time when players would get "confused" by the functionality of the "all-new" intensity cubes...
