I could see it being a strain on the server, with new calculations of ratings happening much more often. Also, there's a slim chance that someone who is SO despicable that they drive everyone they play, away for good... well, maybe not such a chance.

I agree that the first thing can be done, but I don't think there's a need to limit new players. They already have the map limit, I think this could be too much. But maybe I'm wrong. And I also agree that it will remove good ratings as well, but IMO, if you really deserve good ratings, you have plenty of active people from which you can receive them. I read in a post, I think .44 said it, that the players who tend to leave bad ratings, eventually get sick of the site and leave. So that's why I suggested the removal after a period of time. Of course, you will always have those who will stick around, but you would have much less bad ratings to worry about.
