Question about fair play [Answered]

Hi, I'm new and am wondering about a play one of my opponents made and if I should leave him a bad rating for fair play. The game is world 2.1, freestyle, unlimited reinforcements. I have about a 15 army deployment advantage against my main opp. I begin my turn and want to deploy on the north and south of his empire and to attack from both sides. He starts his turn while I'm deploying and quickly puts his whole deployment against one of my armies and attacks, then reinforces against the other. It happened so fast I couldn't believe it. I think he was waiting for me. Did he just teach me a valuable lesson about not splitting your forces or was this a dirty trick?

He, most likely, was waiting for you. He didn't break any rules, so I'd file this under "taught you a lesson". Whether you take that lesson to be, "Avoid freestyle, and all its silly exploits", or, "Learn the exploits of freestyle, and use them yourself" is up to you.

Sounds like he had a good scheme in mind and that the tactic worked out well for him. You're in a war and I don't see where this strategy falls into un-fair play. I'm guessing you just learned something new about approaches to freestyle play and an alternative method of working a situation... that you can also employ sometime.

I concur with my colleagues. Your opponent did nothing wrong and to leave a poor rating would be unsportsmanlike.

I would strongly suggest avoiding freestyle games. There is an add-on called clickie maps and with this and a decent computer, also a fast connection, you will usually get killed unless you are experienced and employing the same tools.

Thx. I just got burned again. I had the 3rd opponent down to 1 territory and the 2nd player swooped in to get the kill and the cards. I think I'll avoid the freestyle games.
