Shannara Map Borders and bonuses added

This is my first map. I've redrawn it from scratch in photoshop. I still have quite a lot to add, but thought it was coming along well and wanted to show it to you guys.
The map is based off Terry Brooks' book the Sword of Shannara. I've tried to keep close to his version where possible.

EDIT: well now that the image has occurred, great job graphically. But what are the borders? Bonuses? Just an FYI, you'll get moved to the Ideas subforum 'til you have those. But you've done a superb job graphically. But get rid of the brown on the side

what does that mean? anyway, I think that you should make the regions stand out more are the rivers the borders or something? I am confused, I think after you do that it will be easier to have discussion about it.

I am looking forward to this map. When I was in middle school, I read all 14 books of the various Shannara series and I really liked all of them. You might run into some copyright issues though. You'll have to look into it.

I'm working on the borders and bonuses right now, and I saved the brown on the side for a key/legend

Ok, I've got the borders and bonuses added in. I think there may be some difficulty with figuring out which regions go with which territories, any ideas on how to make it clearer? Since I still have some room on the brown I'm thinking of adding an image, most likely a sword next.

Here are the bonus regions and their territories in case it helps.
Northland - Skull kingdom, river lethe, malg swamp, keirlack desert
Southland - Kern, Shady Vale, Tyrsis, Varfleet, Rappahalladran, Leah
Westland - Arborlon, Valley of Rhenn, Mermidon

I enjoyed the Shannara books as much as the next guy, but you're wasting your time unless you've gotten copyright issues sorted. If you're serious about pursuing this map, then that's the first step.

I've contacted Terry Brooks and I'm waiting for him to get back to me. Thought I'd keep playing around with it until he does.

So I emailed Terry's webmaster, Shawn Speakman.

Hey, I've been playing risk online at Conquer Club and there is a feature that allows users to make and submit maps for play on the site. I thought a Shannara map would be fun to play on and created one using a map in the book as a reference. Before the site can use it though I need permission from Terry. Do you suppose he will give consent to use the map, if so how can I contact him about it?

I tried emailing DelRey and have not received an answer, (and I'm not really expecting to)
What should be my next course of action be? If I change the names on the map is it usable?

Your own original names
Your own original graphics/layout
Your own original spin on the map

Is the map worth pursuing then? It might be better to look into alternative ideas.

As Andy said, you'll need to make the map sufficiently different so as to not infringe on copyright.

Sadly though, it looks like it's back to the Ideas Board for this thread...
