How many points generally puts you through this round?

I figured at the start of the round a target of 380 would be definite...
based on an equal share of the points, (8x10 pts, 8x7pts ,..., 8x1 pt)
But if you talking absolute minimum you'd need to skew that for the players that do really badly.

Its tough to compare to previous MBs because the scoring has changed somewhat, and it'll vary from group to group, but I got it projected at about 342 to scrape through at the moment

Do you mean 442? Can say for certain we're going to cruise past 342.

By my estimates 400-420 should get you into the next round...380-400 I would say would be pretty close if you have a competitive group.

5 points average normally takes u to next round, but if 5 players take a big advantage from the other 3, 400 points could be short.

Our group has about 20ish games left and the top 7 are pretty close. When I look at the percentage of the total points that each of us have, and apply it through the remainder of the games, it comes out to about 400 points needed to advance.

It all depends on how many people are realistically in the running though... if 8 people are in the running, then the points needed to advance would probably only need to be 375ish, since the points would be spread out amongst more people... if there are only 5 or 6 people in the running, you'd probably need 450ish to advance. The numbers would also change if one or two people are dominating, as they are soaking up a lot of points, which would translate to less points for the other players in the running.

There are too many variables to really come up with a realistic number... it'd be in the 350-450 range though.

I gotta say, I love this point in the tourney, when you're roughly 1/3-1/2 of the way through a round, and every time you log on, there's a good chance that (a) you might be able to go on a run and finish a game and (b) some of the games in which you thought you were safe have finished or you've been eliminated. Very exciting to see the points rolling in. At least, that's my experience ...

Everybody's trying to predict who will advance -- it's more difficult this time because of the extra 3 points for a win. I'm doing better in this round than I have since the semi's of MB IV, and I'm still not sure how it will shake out.

Definitely looking forward to the next update, my worst maps are now out the way so curious what kind of cushion I have left to work with over the final 17 games. Getting closer to safety with each game now, minimum of 34 points from the games outstanding not counted, so 344+, 410 should do it in our group.

On my spreadsheet I have you at 325, Whitetrash at 324, Xiao at 314, Me at 307, Sun at 305, Jugs at 304, Nash 300, and Slick at 210.

I haven't inputted all the partial games yet though, except for the ones already on the official scoreboard, so the numbers could be off one or two.

Yeah, I have got to add my voice of thanks to this. This is by far my favourite tournament - like danryan says, the scoring is huge strategically, so thanks a mil for such frequent updates. It must be a hell of a workload!!
