Saddened by the review but still plan to see it. I think that Andy would likje that last line.jonesthecurl wrote:Well, I just came back from Star Trek.
Oh dear oh dear oh dear.
Good things first: Nice sets. Mostly nice effects. Good casting, except for Kirk himself and Uhura.
Plot: so full of holes you could use it for a fishing net.
Script: dunno, much of it was drowned out by the dreadful music.
The curlson gave the perfect review:
"I have absolutely NO idea what was going on. But the fight scenes were good."
Oh, and that thing about having a vast, universe for background with tight continuity control? Jettisoned. Not, to be fair, entirely by ignoring what had been done before, mainly by time travel going back to the day Kirk was born.
I don't know why this is attracting such good reviews - i seemed to me that it would dissappoint a Trekkie, while still carrying too much baggage (in a dull fashion) from trekdom for trek newbies.
Go see something else instead, or buy a box of donuts.
Or a bunch of bananas.

My son is 5 and you posting all these pictures brings back memories of my son doing these things. It's even more important to me since his mother and I were never "together." I never missed my time to see him every other weekend in all these years despite him living 200 miles away.Quirk wrote:

Re: the longest thread, thread - Occasionally NSFW
In other news, I'd like to go to bed now, but am having a dreadful sneezy fit, probably brought on by reorganising papers in the office to go in the new furniture (I'm allergic to dust, especially paper dust). I've just hit that nasty point which hits only once every few years - I've sneezed so much it's made my nose bleed, and the bleeding nose is irritating me to sneeze even more.
No point going to bed yet, I'd only wake everyone up.
Also, I had a killer move going in an Ottoman Empire game, and had the game in the palm of my hand when I was interrupted by sneeziness, lost track of what I was doing, and cocked up a vital move. Bugger, bugger, bugger.

Re: the longest thread, thread - Occasionally NSFW
Anyhow, I got some nice presents for my birthday. The curlette bought me the first "Artremis Fowl" novel, my parents sent me cash which I used to buy a very indulgent bottle of Armagnac (I'm sipping some now, inbetween sneezes), the in-laws sent cash too, which I'm taking to the comic shop. I also got some Tom Baker "Dr Who" DVD's, and a hand-held food blender. The curlson bought me something, but it ended up in someone else's backpack (along with Mrs curl's Mother's Day present), and hasn't yet been recovered. The curlson spends much of his life retracing his steps to recover hats, skateboards, homework, phones, purchases, etc.
