Is it insular to not know things that aren't specifically relevant to my life in the United States? That's a question.

Yes it's insular and (in my opinion) the lack of outside news that reaches most Americans, makes the majority of Americans no better informed than people living in North Korea.
There is just too much world news for one person to trawl through various internet news sites, but you would of thought that an American media group would be able to work out what was important enough outside news, and transmit a news programme that gave the average American a decent overview of what was going on in the world in general.
The BBC does this for Britain. I know just as much about earthquakes in Japan and mass shootings in Germany day by day. I get what i consider to be a very broad view of world news and it helps me to understand the world as a whole

This story of British MP's expenses may not be ground breaking right now, but if it continues to escalate the fury of the British voter and a far right party gets into power of a country, with nukes, on nuclear powered subs, isn't that slightly more worrying than North Korea aledgedly detonating a nuke underground?

I don't think politicians should be paid...AT ALL. It should be an All Volunteer job. No bonus's, no kickbacks, no expense accounts. Oh, and if you get caught stealing from the cookie jar, you are executed on the spot. no trial, no judge, no jury, just the executioner.

To answer your question Pedro, there was a brief coverage of this in our media, but then it was time for American Idle to come on.. so 75% of the retards (with voter cards) decided to watch the next sensational kareoke contest winner. You see, America is no more...the Japanese correctly predicted its demise when referring to this country's citizens as stupid, lazy and arrogant folks who are spoiled rotten (and lost the freedom they took for granted). The government has been corrupt for decades...the education system is a farce...pirates wearing suits and carrying briefcases have set upon on tax dollars (psst, dont tell anyone but eh..we are broke). Now we have a pretender sitting in DC, reading carefully from the teleprompter so he doesnt fall in an ebonic fit of slang. While he repays the billion dollar campaign loan he needed to defeat McLame and the pageant queen...his handlers are overjoyed by the splendor of his holiness as reported by the talking heads.

You see the pocket raiding politicians are not unique to us, we just know what they tell us...but we dont give a f*ck. We see a TV commercial with Prozak or whatever other kind of bullshit feel good and run to our doctors and get loaded up. Then when the bad news gets delivered the barely coherent will look again to the magic idiot box for guidance. And then we as a group cant see through the stupid, the little balls they throw in the air to distract our attention. Like the racial divide, gun control, abortion, war on drugs, gay rights... all of these ills created by politicians and media, and slapped against the foreheads of the slack jawed inhabitants. So we keep electing the same old folks every time (SECRET:when both parties lie cheat and steal, what difference does it make which political party they claim?).

The simple solution to the ills that plague society (here and there): remove the politicians by whatever force necessary. Or get Rosetta Stone's Speak Chinese.

BTW, I voted in your poll...I have been avoiding the boob tube and the meds, so I am interested to know how you guys deal with MP.
