Umm...I thought those guys at the other thread deny wanting to be the longest thread. that it "wasn't their intention".
It isn't out intention, but what the longest thread thread is now isn't simply being or becoming the longest thread. It's something different, something more. If it wasn't, you guys would just be sitting there making post of after post that meant nothing, such as "2308944u890sdafkljasd;lfkja".

Oh dang why didn't I think of making random spam to make it longer.

Of course we don't just wnat to make it the longest. We want to be able t omake it the longest without just randomly spamming the hell out of it. So that if, I mean WHEN, we accomplish our goal and people come to look at it (possibly out of bored curiousity) we can have a level of pride in what we have created.

Spamalot isn't designed to be the longest thread in the forum, that isnt its purpose. Read the first post in each thread, and you'll very quickly gather that they have very different goals.

and while Spamalot has said repeatedly that it doesn't care if it's the longest or not. The main goal of the Longest thread is just that. Plus they've both evolved into unique entities with their own, though often overlapping, social groups.
