Players with Anger Management Issues

Post by saxitoxin »

Has anyone else encountered a player with obvious anger management issues or personal life concerns that spill over into the game? For example, I recently played a game against someone who was distressed at my play style and engaged me in a very bizarre and off-kilter confrontation during the game chat (one angry quote by this player "I MAKE $12,000 A MONTH!" -- which reminded me of Will Ferrell's SNL skit in which he angrily demands respect from his family by noting "I DRIVE A DODGE STRATUS!")

Needless to say I left a poor rating for this individual post-facto, said individual then began "cyber stalking" me and posting incendiary comments on my wall, a few of which I deleted but his most current I just went ahead and left up as I found it delightful. Obviously I did not follow-suit with his wall, however, on review of other negative ratings the player has received he apparently believes he is the object of some vendetta by a cabal of "clueless", "sore losers", to wit in his replies:

"The other opponent agreed that this jackass had no clue what he was doing."

"Once again, read the game log. Very sore loser."

"This takes me by surprise. Didn't think he was a sore loser."

"Sore loser. Game log doesn't lie."

"Completely reckless and clueless. "

"ANOTHER vengeful sore loser that after several times of goin through this, I finally just had to put on my foe list"

"Sore loser. Upset because he's losing and starts calling names so I told him what I thought. More infantile retaliation."

"This is the first time that I've ever suspected friends helping each other out. Read the actual game log. That or they were completely clueless."

"Again, read the log. Another crybaby blaming everyone else so he lashes out. I'm so tired of this infantile retaliation."

I won't mention this players' name because I don't want the discussion to descend into a he said/she said personal sludge fest, I'm more interested in exampling this to the point of my question -

Has anyone experienced that some players participate in Conquer Club to work out issues or vent steam they may be experiencing in their personal lives? I think it's a minority of players, but a large minority. I find this idea fascinating and am wondering if others have made similar observations?

I've been very nasty in chat and elsewhere around here but I've since undergone self-prescribed and self-managed therapy . Now I'm gentle and easy-going like a kitten. Ask anyone. :-^

Saxitoxin,

Why don't YOU develop a thicker skin, you little cry-baby! It's posters and players like yourself, who need a boot up their heinie.

Please, put me on your "foe list," as I would more likely do a suicidal attack against your sniffling little butt, then to have you win.

Oh boo-hoo....he's a meanie.

Reminds me of Gob on Arrested Development:

Gob: [in the break room] The worst that could happen is that I could spill coffee all over this $3,000 suit. Come on.
[in the elevator]
Gob: Yeah, the guy wearing the $4,000 suit is holding the elevator for the guy who doesn't make that in four months. Come on.
[in the bathroom]
Gob: Yeah, like I'm going to take a whiz through this $5,000 suit. Come on.

Saxitoxin didn't write anything about reading the game log. S/he was quoting other people in reference to the offending player. It seems to me that saxitoxin does not wish to name who the player is.

. . . are no biggie. Of course those who don't want to mess with a cook
should stay out of the kitchen.

The game chat is a great place to vent and I'd rather experience some bitchin' banter
over silent indifference anyways. If it gets too scatorific the foe list is a great silencer
of even the harshest verbocity.

Sometimes the squeeky wheel gets greased.

He/she says this and that. Where's the FUCKING EVIDENCE?

We can say, oh he did this and that, but it's hearsay and it won't hold up in Court.

It would overload with players venting thier problems on how they hate the dice. Though it would be entertaining to read that form.

Actually, it would be the Mods who would need the Anger Management. Lately, they been threatening a number of regular posters with warnings, bans and perma-bans just for expressing their opinion.
