Captain, seriously. Here's the thing that you (and a lot of other people) need to understand:

Was DM a jackass to you (and me)? Yes. He is the reason I like to respond to arguments by not actually responding to the subject matter of the argument. However, he was also funny. He was also a regularly contributing member of the TS (f/k/a MAAN) forum. He also was one of the few people who was actually intelligent. Finally, and you must need to realize this, with him gone, they really are going to go after people like you. They won't go after people like me, I don't troll and I don't post off-topic. They will go after you, because you do both. So, you can think DM is an a-hole (I agree). You can think he made what he thought were intelligent arguments, but which were not (I agree). You can think he ignored your NWO warnings (which we all do). But, those things shouldn't make you glad that he's gone.

Indeed. While one could ofcourse be in total disagreement with DM, he was one of the funniest and liveliest contributors to debate. I mean, I dislike you and crazy with regards to your beliefs but I would be sad if any of you got banned because you are entertaining and provide interesting stuff. You've even made me reconsider my opinions a few times.

Not to mention that for a fellow like crazy who is so against TEH NWO he is sure swallowing whatever the man does like a drone. At least DaGip fought against the regime.

I agree 100% with this post. DM is the only perma-banned member who I think has been wrongly banned. This actually should have given an official title, like Troll Destroyer for the way he epically dealt with trolls. You could have used him as CC's troll vigilante. Let him roam the forums, searching for trolls, and upon finding them, allow the mods to move in and dispose of them. Would have been awesome, and to keep up the act you could have continuously given him short vacations. He could have been a mole. This one really needed more thought.

Maximum this should be a one week ban. A month would be really harsh.

The existing system of escalating bannings makes the decision to ban someone, along with the penalty, appear really petty and arbitrary when a permaban comes along.

DM wasn't doing anything harmful or serious. He didn't bring in any personal information and was simply flippant in tone. I really can't see how this sort of thing is so serious as a permanent banning. The quality of the content the guy generated was so high that to shun him is to deprive ourselves.

I just don't see how anyone can call this a "community" when the most consistently valuable content generators are treated as a problem and illiterate and insane postings (see the conspiracy theorists) are treated as sacrosanct. There should be a place here for all of us.

I never registered there, and I don't have the link, but it may be of interest to you if you want to see DM and some of the other banned members again.

No...a LOT of people disagree with captain.crazy and a LOT of people call him out in these forums. But it's certainly true that DM was...much harsher than others in that regard. And I'm certainly no captain.crazy fan. DM was VERY funny at times...but being funny isn't an excuse for being abusive...not to mention that those times were getting less and less frequent, in my opinion...and devolved often into very not funny.

This is a sad day for the CC community. One of the sharpest wits and best debaters this forum has seen has been banned.

See, now I don't get this. Dancing Mustard was FAR from one of the best debaters on this site. He doesn't even belong in that conversation, quite honestly.

I will say this though...there are FAR BETTER EXAMPLES of DM's posts to get him banned for than the two that Andy referenced. Do I think he deserved to be banned? I don't know...I won't personally miss him much, but that's not relevant. I would tend to think he did deserve it, but not for those partiuclarly references.
