You speak shit, constantly, repetitively, without fail on a daily basis, you are nothing more than an un-imaginative troll, that has the vocal prowess of a f'uck-searching mud-skipper looking for his swamp. Your adoring 10 year old cooks might listen to your advice on how to scramble an egg or lose your armies in less than two moves, so stick with them and good luck on your blossoming pedophile grooming ethic. I personally think its a disgusting habit, but then again its a role that you would surely fit to size.mpjh wrote:I speak the truth, nothing less, nothing more.
Apparently he's doing something useful in SoC and was promoted for it, beats me why he's trolling this thread.icedagger wrote:They made mpjh a mod?! I thought it had been pretty much established he was either 8 years old or a massive troll (he also threw a hissy fit and attempted to ruin a couple of other mafia games iirc)
On topic... DM was one of the relatively few posters I didn't just scroll past when I read threads. Shame to see him go

Take a look yourself. Highest ever users online 1500, now it averages 750-800. Cross-reference this against Alexa page rank, and you'll see CC has gone from a peak of 0.0062% of traffic in May '08 to around 0.0034% now. That's a 45% drop in traffic over a 14 month period. Not exactly a fit bill of health, especially when you consider the seasonal trends are resulting in lower highs and deeper troughs.mpjh wrote:Take a look guys, what about 800+ on line now playing the game, what about 10 pissing in this thread, insulting mods, defaming the hard work of people who try and make this a fun experience on the site. That is what is pathetic.

Not surprisingly, this is the same period that saw Classic vanish forever, Flame Wars vanish forever, Twill and Twill-lite vanish forever, and various mainstay community members either retire from their positions or get banned from the site. Since the new appointments made 2 months ago, and branded as "staffing changes", the traffic has dropped a whopping 33%. I'm not sure if anyone else here has studied business or run their own, but behaviour like that is a red flag.
I'm afraid that the emphatic nature of the moderation here is simply the tip of the iceberg of a far greater problem. When was the last time anyone saw lack post in the forums? When was the last time he did anything? Oh yeah that's right, the random map mod is in - only took a little over 3 years. And the voting button, of course. The stagnation and rot that has set in here has finally spawned a miasma that now pervades the community. I see so many members thoroughly disenchanted, members who were once great bastions of the site - MeDeFe, Fruitcake, mibi, RjBeals, the list goes on. These are regulars you've lost through indecision, inaction, and just plain laziness.
If you think that the continuation of poor administration and woeful moderation is going to herald a brave new era for the site, think again. The hey day is over, people have rested on their laurels, and now the amount of effort required to haul this site out of the ditch it's in is simply too much for the bloated aristocracy to muster. Oh, and by the way, the correct language is "try to make this a fun experience". The phrase "try and make this a fun experience" implies that both former and latter are achieved.
This is probably the biggest disappointment to me of anything. I get the feeling (which certainly could be wrong, but it's there nonetheless) that he really isn't involved at all outside of occasionally making a coding change or maybe popping into a suggestion thread that he's been pointed to by one of the admins. That's a significant...and bad...thing, in my view.e_i_pi wrote: I'm afraid that the emphatic nature of the moderation here is simply the tip of the iceberg of a far greater problem. You have no evidence that any of this is more than shear coincidence.e_i_pi wrote:Take a look yourself. Highest ever users online 1500, now it averages 750-800. Which is affecting free online risk webgames, as opposed to the list of factors e_i_pi mentioned? These are excuses.mpjh wrote:We have also entered into a period of severe economic contraction.
I am (not now, but in the past) very very familiar with the amount of "free" time one can have while unemployed.mpjh wrote:Actually, it is the other way around. People without jobs are not sitting around watching tv, they are looking for work. I know you ivory tower types don't get this, but looking work for most of us is hard, time-consuming work.
It is even worse when you are in "transition" getting retrained or some other avenue that involves eating up your time in "reeducation."
Seems to me there's actually about equal amounts of free time, it's just that when unemployed, your broke ass is more likely to sit in front of the computer at night rather than go out looking for adventure, dig?mpjh wrote:My experience is that there is less "free" time when unemployed than when gainfully employed. I would tend to agree. In searching for a job, you're not likely to be doing it a lot "after hours" because the employers aren't there either. I suppose you might be going to night school, but I can't think of anything else. And as pimpdave mentions...you can't afford to be out on the town when you don't have a job. (At least, I couldn't...)pimpdave wrote:Seems to me there's actually about equal amounts of free time, it's just that when unemployed, your broke ass is more likely to sit in front of the computer at night rather than go out looking for adventure, dig?mpjh wrote:My experience is that there is less "free" time when unemployed than when gainfully employed. This has become rather silly, hasn't it?mpjh wrote:Evenings is for the group therapy with the other mugs looking for work.
Well, of course they are. But regardless of the thinking behind DM's banishment, this incident seems to have (once again) raised some questions about the site guidelines and the manner in which they are enforced. I don't think that can (or should) be ignored. For some people this is not just going to blow over.clapper011 wrote:while I may agree with you in some ways about how he was banned... Yes, in a manner of speaking (i.e., the perma-ban may have been in concordance with the site guidelines and punitive system, but the mindset behind his expulsion and the system which facilitated it are both faulty in my opinion).clapper011 wrote:thanks for confirming every reason why dm was banned in one extremely long, boring post chaosYet some of you are still going to claim he is innocent and wrongfully banned by the administrators and owner of this site!
