You speak shit, constantly, repetitively, without fail on a daily basis, you are nothing more than an un-imaginative troll, that has the vocal prowess of a f'uck-searching mud-skipper looking for his swamp. Your adoring 10 year old cooks might listen to your advice on how to scramble an egg or lose your armies in less than two moves, so stick with them and good luck on your blossoming pedophile grooming ethic. I personally think its a disgusting habit, but then again its a role that you would surely fit to size.

If you want to bait us old flamers into flaming you mpjh, set up a thread of your own, otherwise stop trolling this one.

They made mpjh a mod?! I thought it had been pretty much established he was either 8 years old or a massive troll (he also threw a hissy fit and attempted to ruin a couple of other mafia games iirc :D)

On topic... DM was one of the relatively few posters I didn't just scroll past when I read threads. Shame to see him go

Apparently he's doing something useful in SoC and was promoted for it, beats me why he's trolling this thread.

Yeah some of us speak up when there's an injustice and some sit back and make priggish, cowardly remarks about those who do. Go figure.

Take a look yourself. Highest ever users online 1500, now it averages 750-800. Cross-reference this against Alexa page rank, and you'll see CC has gone from a peak of 0.0062% of traffic in May '08 to around 0.0034% now. That's a 45% drop in traffic over a 14 month period. Not exactly a fit bill of health, especially when you consider the seasonal trends are resulting in lower highs and deeper troughs.

Not surprisingly, this is the same period that saw Classic vanish forever, Flame Wars vanish forever, Twill and Twill-lite vanish forever, and various mainstay community members either retire from their positions or get banned from the site. Since the new appointments made 2 months ago, and branded as "staffing changes", the traffic has dropped a whopping 33%. I'm not sure if anyone else here has studied business or run their own, but behaviour like that is a red flag.

I'm afraid that the emphatic nature of the moderation here is simply the tip of the iceberg of a far greater problem. When was the last time anyone saw lack post in the forums? When was the last time he did anything? Oh yeah that's right, the random map mod is in - only took a little over 3 years. And the voting button, of course. The stagnation and rot that has set in here has finally spawned a miasma that now pervades the community. I see so many members thoroughly disenchanted, members who were once great bastions of the site - MeDeFe, Fruitcake, mibi, RjBeals, the list goes on. These are regulars you've lost through indecision, inaction, and just plain laziness.

If you think that the continuation of poor administration and woeful moderation is going to herald a brave new era for the site, think again. The hey day is over, people have rested on their laurels, and now the amount of effort required to haul this site out of the ditch it's in is simply too much for the bloated aristocracy to muster. Oh, and by the way, the correct language is "try to make this a fun experience". The phrase "try and make this a fun experience" implies that both former and latter are achieved.

This is probably the biggest disappointment to me of anything. I get the feeling (which certainly could be wrong, but it's there nonetheless) that he really isn't involved at all outside of occasionally making a coding change or maybe popping into a suggestion thread that he's been pointed to by one of the admins. That's a significant...and bad...thing, in my view.

You have no evidence that any of this is more than shear coincidence.

We have also entered into a period of severe economic contraction. Schools are losing students. People with jobs a working more hours. Computer access at work is severely restricted. I could go on. You can pick and chose all you want, but without surveys or some other objective evidence, you are just pissing into the wind.

Ok, now you pissed me off. I expected more from you than this - a lot more.

We do not claim that DM is innocent. No one said that - ever. Whothefuck wants to be "innocent". Innocent is not interesting. Innocent is not funny. Innocent does not turn peoples' heads nor bring them to the forum. Are you "innocent" btw?

No DM was not, is not innocent. He added life to this forum though, and he made it a more interesting place. If everyone follows the rules here, all you'll have left is the mods.

The administrators here have shown us time and time again that they are small minded bufoons. People of spirit and creativity make them nervous - they are typical modern day droidyuppies who love safety, predictability and conformity. This forum has been an interesting place in spite of them, but they seem intent on changing that. I'm very disappointed to see you falling in step with their smallminded stifling stance.

Still there is no evidence either way. Besides, time is money, and money is tight, so time is used up searching for jobs, studying 'cause there is no slack now, and meeting the other pressing requirements of a creditless, tight economy.

Not to take sides in this conversation, but don't people without jobs have more spare time?
Economic stress might lead to less premium buyers. Surely not less freemiums, and certainly not less time in the fora.

Actually, it is the other way around. People without jobs are not sitting around watching tv, they are looking for work. I know you ivory tower types don't get this, but looking work for most of us is hard, time-consuming work.

It is even worse when you are in "transition" getting retrained or some other avenue that involves eating up your time in "reeducation."

I am (not now, but in the past) very very familiar with the amount of "free" time one can have while unemployed.

My experience is that there is less "free" time when unemployed than when gainfully employed. I suspect that for most non-professional workers that is true.

Seems to me there's actually about equal amounts of free time, it's just that when unemployed, your broke ass is more likely to sit in front of the computer at night rather than go out looking for adventure, dig?

I find the "adventure" becomes more available when not working. I think it is the sympathy factor.

I would tend to agree. In searching for a job, you're not likely to be doing it a lot "after hours" because the employers aren't there either. I suppose you might be going to night school, but I can't think of anything else. And as pimpdave mentions...you can't afford to be out on the town when you don't have a job. (At least, I couldn't...)

This has become typical mpjh. He paints himself into a corner if you press him on a logic issue. Quite funny the first few times, quite boring now.

Innocent? No. Wrongfully banned? Yes, in a manner of speaking (i.e., the perma-ban may have been in concordance with the site guidelines and punitive system, but the mindset behind his expulsion and the system which facilitated it are both faulty in my opinion).
while I may agree with you in some ways about how he was banned... I do have to say that it was the "straw which broke the camels back"in the eyes of the admins/owner. And in the end..they ARE who has the last say.
Well, of course they are. But regardless of the thinking behind DM's banishment, this incident seems to have (once again) raised some questions about the site guidelines and the manner in which they are enforced. I don't think that can (or should) be ignored. For some people this is not just going to blow over.
